observer wrote:Doubt it. Why would you go from being one of the better Bantam A players to the absolute weakest varsity player. That would be a poor decision. And, they would have to leap over 7 teams of high school aged players to do so. Remember, youth combines two years of players and high school three. Big jump and I don't see a player that special on the Bantam A roster.
Didn't Max Everson move up as a Frosh a couple years ago???
I don't care how many teams there are between bantams and varsity, if the coach (varsity) wants a player the coach will take a player. Especially at the high school level where the coach is also the GM, and there is no local association board that has absolutely any input into what they do!

Another word of the day all season is going to be "H1N1". As we are already seeing the impact of this on some of the scores reported. Who is lucky enough to stay healthy will be at a major advantage, given what this has the capability to do to deplete a team.
How long does it take to get over H1N1? 5-7 days? might impact a game or two but hopefully not the whole season...
Centennial had a bunch of sick players last week; did EP have the flu also?

Because I am a doctor I will assist this and hope to score. If a player has another condition be it asthma or what not, a player can be out from playing competively with H1N1 for two weeks or more. Now when you add 1 player from each team infecting another, your team can be down for 3 weeks easily. A benefit could be the whole team being done with it for the year within a short period.

That is assuming all of them get it at once. It has an incubation period of about 5 days or so (based on how it moved through our house) so depending on who gets it when it could hit a team longer than that.

It's so early in the season that it's all speculation, might as well talk about the flu.

After a good early look at teams in the Centennial Preview, here are some rankings. Note: other games were played elsewhere this weekend and scores not reported.
The next good look will be in two weeks at the Tommy Williams in Duluth. Good luck to all the teams and keep posting results.
1 Edina - Still the Best, But were beat by East this weekend
2 Duluth East - Defeats Edina in OT but looked mortal the rest of the Weekend
3 Woodbury -
4 Minnetonka - Lots of speed and skill
5 Eden Prairie - much improved since the first few weeks had a good weekend
6 Apple Valley - 2-1 over Lakeville South
7 Wayzata - They have not won a lot of games, but the road has not been easy either
8 Grand Rapids -
9 Roseau -
10 Cloquet -
11 Lakeville South - Has potential to be in top 10, needs to work out some bugs.
12 Centennial - 2 wins and Tied Tonka their only real compitition this weekend
13 White Bear Lake - Slow start to season
14 Elk River - Lost 5-0 to EP, will improve with coach
15 Maple Grove - Defeats burnsville 5-4, but lost to Eagan?
16 Burnsville -
17 Rochester - went 0-3 but faced good compitition all weekend

Just a side note. I stopped in the preview to watch the Shattuck Edina game. (Great one for 2 and half periods by the way. If you have not seen the Shattuck team you need to, very impressive.)
I just have to say that was one of the best tourneys I have been to, no gate fee and free food, and most importatly great hockey. On a sad note I was hearing this may be the last year!!!??? Any one know why?

Hopkins is a big contender this year, with a lot of returning talent

District 10 will not sign off on rosters early enough for say Centennial to participate.
So the end

I was just wondering what you think of Mahtomedi. I play for them and I am not going to say anything but do you think that we will be any good this year? We just came off a big win against Hopkins with an outstanding effort by our goalie but anyway I was just wondering what you all think of us. Thanks.

Shouldn't you be studying at school, or are you skipping class there Mahtohockey boy?
Anyways if you want info here people are going to bash you just ignore it, and Hopkins can't suck that bad cause you only beat them one nothing...so if they do suck you must not be much of an upgrade?
Regardless good luck hope your season goes very well young man.

Mahtohockey12, are you graduating in 2012, or simply acting like a 12 year old?
From another post from you... im on the mahtomedi A bantam team and we just beat hopkins 1-0. Does anyone think this was a great win that could predict us to have a good season or was that win just a fluke?
Mahtohockey12, if you're on the A squad, conduct yourself with some decorum and respect for others. You reflect on your team with poor posts.
Get a grip, or don't post. Grow up, or don't post. Show some restraint, or don't post. Your team will appreciate whatever option you pick from these choices.

your right. i am sorry. and ha yeah im in class so technically i am not skipping school. but i didnt do this for no reason. he dissed my team on the "whos not and whos not-bantam a" and i asked if they thought we were a contender and he said "no you guys are terrible you have no chance to win another game all season" so i just wanted to get him back for that. I am sorry

we have played 4. 2-2. We lost to Princeton and Hastings and beat Hopkins and Spring Lake Park. Those were all just scrimmages but I guess a game is the same thing. We haven't had any 'games' yet

Wait for CNF's ratings.
If he has you in the top 20 you're okay.
If not, work harder.
Its a long way to go before your final grade.
