I bet Moorhead might be wishing for the 2 seed from the north now. Tough draw for them to have to face Edina, but both are good teams.

I would have to say that most teams during the end of the season are digging deep, for example: The Centennial Cougars, they were good at the beginning of the season and then they went into a slump. Now that they have a player off their team that was bringing them down they are starting to dig deep. They played still water on another level that I have seen them play ever and the next game against Eden Prarie they caught them flat footed bringing them into 3 ot's and beating Bloomington Jefferson and White Bear. In my opinion they could be a good contender if they continue to dig deep and even deeper.

I stuck around to watch EP play. EP was not exactly flat footed in the 3OT game. I estimate they outshot Cent. by 25 shots in regulation play. I dont recall more than one shot on goal for Centennial during the 3 OT's.
Yes, shots do not win games. This game was not as close as the score.

Wild Thing, when you stuck around for the 3 OT game you must have noticed that Centennial also only had 12 skaters compared to 17 on EP, that may have been part of the reason why they were outshot in the OT's. But as far as the game was Centennial outplayed them for 2 periods and was winning the game until 2 minutes left in the game when EP tied the game to force the OT's. I agree they outplayed them in all the OT's but with 12 skaters in 6 periods come on , I think you have to give them some credit. Lets face it EP was not flat footed by any means, but I bet you they overlooked them for sure... it was a fun game to watch back and fourth and very intense.

Centennial's finish was no suprise to me. If you check thier record, many of thier losses were close losses this year. They earn a TON of credit for defeating WBL and forcing EP to 3 OT's. I had WBL rated in the top three going in....
In the EP game they did a nice job in thier own end, not alot of rebounds, 2nd/3rd shots. However, I stick with my original comment that the majority of the game was played in thier end.
I think Cent. scored on 3 of thier first 5 shots in the game, and then they were done for the night with just a few prime scoring chances after that.
I agree EP's deeper bench is a key advantage.

I am waiting to see how centennial actually does. Since they have Travis Johnson off the team it will be more fun for those boys. Travis Johnson was a goon and just brought the team down, but that being said I'm looking forward to see if they make some upsets

So number 9 decides to kick the EP player in the side to make him let go? Does anyone have an update on the victim? Poor kid is probably out for the season. Lets hope he's not a senior...

Moving on to the game...I heard the shots were 54-24 in favor of EP. The Ep goalie let in 2 weak goals right away then got his head into the game. And the Centennial goalie was standing on his head the whole game. Centennial should be thanking their goalie for even keeping it close.

I would like to thank Edina for their classy display of sportsmanship on Saturday. Letting Wayzata celebrate their victory with their team and leaving the ice without shaking hands showed real class and respect for the game. Thank you and good luck in state.

Junior Gold teams shake hands before the game.

Why? It's some Metro League Rule. It happened in several other games this weekend in Eagan and all season long.

Edina did nothing wrong. All teams follow the same procedure.

I never said they did anything "wrong", but there was no handshake before or after. Except for their goalie, who I happen to think is a very strong competitor and gracious loser.

The only one that shook hands was the losing goalie(graves). I think most teams are classy and in that situation it may have slipped their mind, but I don't know. Teams are just so used to shaking before the game, so after it just may have been forgotten. I don't think it's fair to call a team classless.

I doubt it was intentional, but it wasn't a win or go home situation. I just didn't like seeing it. They're a really good team, and it's hard not to hold them to a higher standard then most other teams with the success they've had this year.

Regardless og wheather or not it was intentional you are in control of a blade and should know the resposibility but the player is done for three weeks and his senior year of hockey is done. He had 21 stiches on two seperate layers 8 stches for his skin and the rest muscle. The cut was a quarter inch away from his lung. Fortunatly it did not cut any major organs and his tetnis shot was up to date
