Watch out Bender, if you try to say the shots weren't counted well someone will say you're just saying it because you like the public schools. Or something dumb like that.
I don't get how you can argue that they have been overrated. One game doesn't make a season. Yes, they beat Mahtomedi, but they also lost to Park, should that not be taken into consideration?
I do agree that NOW they should get more consideration and hopefully they will continue to do well and get the #2 seed for sections. Seeing them get 2nd in the conference would be sweet, but we'll see.
Head to head match ups don't mean much for rankings, everyone knows that.

Take it from someone who was at the game, the shots were definatly miscounted. Not only where the shots a fluke but the reffing as well. They were 100% against calling sta penalties. Also South St Paul was missing Ryan Miller a top forward, put all of those into perspective and it was a two sided game if not South St Paul outplayed STA.

They have had a few bad games..it's difficult for a team to win every game..at least they can do it when it counts..what about the tie against a very good woodbury team that would, in my opinion beat that STA team? Should that not be taken into consideration either?HShockeywatcher wrote:Watch out Bender, if you try to say the shots weren't counted well someone will say you're just saying it because you like the public schools. See? Anyone at that game knows those shots were miscounted, whether they want to admit it or notThatsWatsUp wrote:Take it from someone who was at the game, the shots were definatly miscounted. bender0905, no one is denying that. Mistakes are made at every level of the game. I attended a game where many shots were not counted, commented on it and was called a homer.
Also, Woodbury (in my opinion) is ranked quite high. I'm not impressed with what they've done thus far. On paper that is, as I haven't seen them play.
Bottom line, the Packers are getting respect, there are simply teams above them doing better and the computers don't lie.

Obviously from the name you can tell that I am a Packer fan, and I was too at the game. I can honestly say that the shot counter was definitely not doing a good job. The first two periods was a great up and down hockey game with the two teams having plenty of chances, and yes there were a couple of pipes hit by South St. Paul, so you can definitely see where they have the potential to be a top 5 team, but in the 3rd period it seemed that they went into there defensive shell, and were really scared to lose, rather than trying to win the game, which is not a good sign. Im not sure that ssp had more than 2 shots in the 3rd period, and none in overtime. You could definitely tell STA has been there and are there to win games, not just try and tie them. Never the less I know SSP can play at that level and be successful, they showed that the first two periods, so to say they are being overlooked, I would say they belong around the 8,9,or 10 area right now for rankings, and alot of them have them about there. Pahlmquist had one of the sweetest goals Ive ever seen to tie the game.

ok...the shots were off a bit and i think everyone has agreed to that. I was at the game and personally it was very even. STA is not alot better than them if at all. STA had over 35 shots lets say and about 20-25 of those were just perimeter shots. Wilcox quite frankly had an easy game. He didnt have to play on his head. Also, about the computer ranking system...SSP will never be in top 5 just because they arent the team that is going to score tons of goals...they are a defensive team and even if they are winning its still gonna affect there standings....

Just saw the Packers play Tartan. South St. Paul was fun to watch. They have some quality players in #7, Micacevich, and Miller. Their goalie is solid. They are always hustling and that makes them relentless on the forecheck. They bottled up Tartan for most of the game. I'm really going to being pulling for them come tournament time and I plan to catch some more of their games to see if they consistently play like they did against Tartan.
