The Platinum Canadian Division (U19) kicked things off last weekend in Morris Manitoba. 5 teams played 4 games each in 2 days. Very good hockey and a lot of fun (except for the flooding).

Do you know the scores or which teams looked good?

Well, this is all from memory, but the Reeces Pieces and Manitoba Saints had won all their games, but had to play each other in the last game on Saturday. I did not see the outcome of that game. The Northern Starzz went 2-2 and the Lightning and the Royals went 0-3-1. The Reeces Pieces team is very good. Most of the games were very competitve.

Recees Pieces should be the favorite in the League this year as they are the oldest and have great coaching (2-94's, 2-93's 6-92's 4-91's). It is an opportunity for the younger teams to see what a D1 player looks and plays like as there are a few on the team......good learning experience for all the players and the League - lots of discussion on should post-grads be able to play the middle ground was if they had been in the League last year they could play this year - the post grads playing college must play 4 games in the season to play in the Championship Weekend.

The Speed apparently has withdrawn from the League some of their players will join the Riley Ice Cats Roster. Coaches have been notified and the League is looking for 2-3 guest teams to play in the US games the first weekend in Stillwater and the second weekend in May in Plymouth. SSM has been approached and invited to bring a group to play in the second weekend at Plymouth - would be a great opportunity for all. The CDNs are talking with teams to play in the Speed spot in WPG one team mentioned is the Thunder Bay Ice Queens who considered the League last winter but couldn't commit to full schedule. This is a great opportunity for teams to kind of try on the League and level of play - the team would pay only for the single weekend and play as a guest under the rules of the League. If you are a top team with HS players contact Rick Rolando to discuss playing one weekend in the Speed's spot. Info is on the Two Nations website.

I saw that someone updated the scores on the website. Although they got the correct winners the scores are not correct. Norther Starzz lost to Reece's Pieces 4-1 (en) and they also lost to the Manitoba Saints either 5-3 or 6-3. The had the correct winners just not the right scores

Scores for May 1-3 US Games at St Croix in Stillwater - these are from memory and comments around the rink....(some teams had girls out for spring sports and this morning for SAT test - one team only had 8 skaters on Friday).

Friday Evening
St Croix Saints 7 Blades 8 (this was a great game with 4 lead changes 1-0 SCS; 2-1 blades; 5-2 SCS; 7-5 Blades; 7-7; Blades scored game winner on a 2-1 where the pass went off the defender and in. The Blades are very very good - H Brandt, Ramsey and Reber played very well. Will be interesting to see the next rematch as both teams had a few key players out - Stenerson, King, Marcotte and a couple of other were not in the Saints line up)
Crush 1 MN All Stars 2
IceCats Micheletti 8 Blues 1
Ice Cats--E 3 IceCats Riley 5

Saturday Morning
Blues 2 St Croix Saints 3
IceCats Riley vs. IceCats Micheletti (South Rink) 10:30-12:30 PM
