from the Star Tribune web site 1/17/08

Father arrested for disorderly conduct for forcing son to wear Green Bay Packers jersey.

The father is sick but the kid has just been added to my hero list.

This is the least interesting conference championship game I've seen in a while, the odd part is that it's a tight game.

I have enjoyed CBS's promos of The Masters though. Spring is coming.

Can't disagree IS. I'm surprised that NE hasnt lit it up more earlier in the game. Now it looks like they are content riding Maroney as much as they can to run the clock down. NE leads 21-12 in the 4th and it sure looks like this one is going to end just like most everyone thought.

Maybe Bret and Eli will give us a better offensive show.

This game is rather boring, but close none the less.

Win or lose, the Giants kicker better not return with the team to NY.

I was stunned by the poor play of Favre in the second half. That kicker will be back with the G-Men next year

Now the question that needs to be asked is, was that interception the last throw in Brett Favre's career?

The Packer offense closed for business in the second half just like the Vikings did in the NFC championship against the Falcons.

You can't win if you can't move the ball.

I agree, the kicker will have a seat on the plane going back.

I'll take that bet pacman :) In a balmy Glendale, AZ., Brady will go off and NY has no answer.

In the post game interview, coach McCarthy says; "I don't know if Brett will be back. That's something we will have to discuss now that the season is over." Any chance that he wouldn't be invited back?

Once the two teams are determined for the Superbowl, think about it for 5 seconds, and the team you choose is the team you should stick with.

The Giants are going to be big dogs in this game but over the next two weeks we'll bombarded with hype and you'll start to buy into the idea that the Giants could win.

By the time Favre and Manning had shaken hands, my gut said Patriots.

The Pats will finish off the undefeated season two weeks from tonight.

Hindsight is 20/20 but it was obvious to me from the start of the year that the Pats were special. I've got a Michigan bias for Brady but in addition to that they just killed people earlier this year. Complete team that can get ya on the ground, short or long. The D is capable as well. G-Men have no chance.

It looked to me that Favre looked more uncomfortable in the cold conditions then Manning. I think the Packers would have faired better in Dallas than playing at home yesterday.

How long is this Bigby for the Packers signed for. I want him in a Vikings uniform. Talk about hard nose hitting. God the last few games he really brought it!

McCarthy was outcoached something awful, the Packers ran about 3 plays all evening. How many times did they throw that quick pass out on the wings? How many times did it gain more than 1 yard? I don't think they ever ran the ball twice in a row to start a first down series, they left Favre to make throws against 3rd and long while Coughlin and the Giants let Manning make throws with 3rd and 5 or less. Also Buress had a field day with man to man coverage, why not play a zone? It's not like the Packers blitzed. Tom Coughlin went on the road and outcoached two teams with better talent, that impressed me.

Your precious Purple beat 2 of the 4 teams playing yesterday.

But both teams did very well.

I thought the Giants took it to GB pretty good. GB didnt do squat on offense. They scored one touchdown on a bone head PF penalty after being stopped on 3rd down, and one after Farve thru an INT that was fumbled.

Favre was cold, literally.

Great defensive game plan by the Pack, eh?
Al Harris is going to the Pro Bowl?

Nice hair Al.

I just watched the Dolphins beat the Redskins 14-7 in Super Bowl VII on the NFL network.

The Dolphins did two things in the final two minutes you never see anymore.

1) They attempt a long FG with a 14 point lead with 2 min left. Nowadays you punt. Washington blocked the FG and took it all the way back, just like that it 14-7.

2) after the ensuing kickoff, it was 2 & 8 and the Fish threw a pass on their own 20yd line that went for a first down, I am almost fell out of my chair. Nowadays that team just plows into the line of scrimmage three times, concedes the punt, and expects the D to finish it off.

coaching with the lead today = CYA
