Frazee had work ethic issues before he showed up at the U of M. He was never known as very dedicated to getting in top shape for the season, etc. He pretty much lived off of his God given talent the whole way. But the higher up you get, the more hard work and preparation counts. I believe more than anything, this is what is Frazee's issue.
Of course, his mental focus/toughness could use some work too.

I also think that some of these young men read all the press stuff (including these forums) and start to believe what they read. At one point all you read about Frazee was that he was the "next coming" and would be taking whatever team he was on to the championship level. Pretty soon the player stops working to reach the next level because they think that they're already there.Gopher Blog wrote:Frazee had work ethic issues before he showed up at the U of M. Thoughts? Agree of disagree?

I don't think Frazee will be back next year. Just a hunch but I think New Jersey will want to get him in their system and Frazee will want to go (he has not been the most dedicated college guy as it is). I am sure New Jersey is concerned since they spent (or wasted... depending on how you look at it) a second round pick on him. I don't blame the coaching because Stauber has done a good job with goalies that had less natural ability than Frazee. If he can teach less talented goalies and get pretty good results, Frazee should be able to achieve similar if the work ethic is there (which has been his problem in the past).goldy313 wrote:Frazee let in one from the redline then another was waved off for offsides that he kicked at and missed that was shot from beyond the far blueline. Lucia pulled him after that. I hope we've seen the last of Frazee.
Unless Frazee develops some better traits (mental toughness, ability to focus, ability to rebound from a failure, etc), he is not going to make it very far in the pros.

Agreed. Too bad, too. This guy has shown some signs of brilliance in his short career here. But lately, he has been flat out awful..........totally seeming to lose focus at times.Gopher Blog wrote:I don't think Frazee will be back next year. Regardless of whether or not New Jersey brings him in, he has got to leave the Gopher program. He is a cancer, at this point. You just can't have the kind of effort he displayed on Saturday, "showcased" for the remainder of the team. Sit him, or boot him, but don't dare start him until he at least shows a MARKED increase in drive and focus in practice.

Kangas and Solei are very solid goaltenders, but so is Frazee he really is a good goalie. He's just having a hard go of things. If i were the opposition playing against the gophers and Frazee was playing between the pipes i would take shots from the blue line and beyond. Brent Solei showed that he was a very good goalie even though he is small the last game he played. If i were Coach Lucia i would give Brent a few more games and just see what he can do. Maybe Solei is just what the Gophers need to start winning games.
