yes paybacks can be a bitch, but what do you tell your kid when he is grown up and asks why nobody did anything about this, yes i had son that the high school coach put a mark on his back, but to hits day HE knows where he stood and that is all that matters, the more people that get involved will make it harder for the payback,,,you gotta do what is right in your mind, are the coaches that allowed this still coaching, if so i believe the district board or Mn hockey could step in bypassing the assocaition, for the" betterment of hockey",
Westhockeyguy- You have to do what you have to do. I respect that.
Keep in mind that the president of your youth association will have to live with his decision too. Only a few people in the Waconia association knows what happened. If you're right, you're right.
Have you thought about meeting with the President or a couple board members?
I'm sure they already gave you the old. "Attend the next board meeting and we'll discuss this in front of the entire board" speach. I suggest meeting with the president one on one. Ask him if there's anything you can do to make sure this doesn't happen in the future. Ask him what they can do to fix the mistake.
After all. What is done is done. Can't change the past. But you can help mold the future of Waconia hockey.
Waconia is growing leaps and bounds. In no time your association will have the numbers.
Good luck!
Go Waconia! Beat Totino Grace.

I'm done. I took it all the way to the district. They basically told me that the action was legal, but they wouldn't condone it. And if the parents of this kid don't also object, there is little that can be done in this case. (I suppose I can see the attraction in the case of the kid and the parents. Okay, so you made the Pee Wee C team. But wait! Hey, do you want to play Bantams instead??? Well sure. That would carry some prestige, eh? )BoogeyMan wrote:Westhockeyguy- You have to do what you have to do. I respect that.

I have dealt with the Waconia Assn. president in the past, and it is a fruitless endeavor.
Sure, in future years, Waconia will have enough kids to field teams in all levels, so they don't have to pull kids up.........particularly kids from C teams in the lower level.....to fill out a roster. That's great. Along with that, perhaps Waconia will attract some true talent in the administration....talent that is actually concerned about a kid's welfare, and not just filling out a roster.
For now, though, I'm just praying this kid doesn't get absolutely tee'd up when he gets back out there again. It is an accident waiting to happen. Do you think the association or the district will change their rules, or their minds, if this kid gets something ELSE broken.....or a concussion......etc? Stay tuned. I'll keep an eye on the situation and report back.
wayoutwest- Keep in mind. Anything that happens from here on out will be on the shoulders of the president and the association.
As far as I'm concerned. You brought this to everyones attention. If the board and president condones this. They are responsible for what ever happens.
Good luck!

If D-6 board allowed this with no repermand, then should get out also. HEY D-6 all we have ever heard from you guys is how good you are , well start taking care of the kids in your district, oh thats right maybe you just dont give a rats a-- about Waconia, ... I can tell you that is not Ok in the eyes of the insurance providers,, all of Waconia's board and D-6 could be pulled in on this thing, if insurance company wants to buck it, and then Mn Hockey will get pulled in also,,, ,, It would be nice to here form a director{Elliot} , but do understand he may not want to say anything against another director. But still the guys that allowed this are still in place, what gives youth sports a bad name ,, you got it , its things like this , NO COMMON SENSE

Not to be critical, but there was a reason he was placed on the C team, right? His skills are not close enough to those required to be playing against Bantams, and the size differential is an even bigger issue. This is a crime. Is it a wonder why his arm was in a sling? The saddest part about it is, once he is healed, they'll undoubtedly throw him right back out there.zboni99 wrote:We played Waconia in a B2 game on Sunday and I think it's true that 2 PW kids are playing Bantams. There was a very small kid on the bench with his shoulder in a harness. I'm assuming he's on the team and is hurt and is one of the PW's. The kid would be lucky to be 80 lbs. He probably has a big heart, but there no way he should be playing Bantams. B2 might be a little sloppy, but it's much more physical and faster than PWB1 was last year. Why doesn't the team skate with less players? If it's a D6 issue, D6 should let Waconia skate with a smaller bench and let/make those kids play PW's with their friends.Give the kid a chance, for crying out loud. In this case, the needs of the Bantams far outweighed consideration for the development of a younger player. Pitiful.
I try and review all move-ups that involve jumping over one or more levels (PW-C to Bantam B). I do not sign rosters until I have the background info and in most (not all) cases have a look at the kid that is moving.
This is what I do...
USA Hockey & MN Hockey does not give guidelines on move-ups, just move-downs.
So I take it on myself to 'learn' what is happening - up front.

yes we understand that Elliot, but this was a peewee c team scrimaging a Bantam team when this injury took place from what ive read, who in the right mind, would condone this , and should there not be suspensions, and or penalties handedout for the parties involved, Heck a peewee c cant enter a bantam tournment so why is this allowed at the local level

I'm not sure what your point is. In the Waconia case, there are only one bantam and three Pee Wee teams. The coaches and the association clearly knew what was happening. I think it is actually a "miss" that USA and MN hockey do not have guidelines for move-ups. In this case, a kid is at risk, and that is certainly not in the best interest of youth hockey, from any perspective.elliott70 wrote:

FaceOff - Please see my other post on this topic. I'm the President of the WHA and I shared my thoughts in another thread. I'd encourage you to ask others for their opinions as well. Either way, we'd love to have you join us!
