For what it's worth, my original post was aimed at the kids who left early to join play in the USHL (not to belittle the NAHL or Tier 1 players, as I have not seen their development over the course of the season first hand).
Also for what it's worth, I brought up the debate of MN high school hockey parents/fans ripping apart players who leave early for the USHL before the end of their high school careers with a scout who works for the Dallas Stars at a Gamblers game about two or three weeks ago. He said that there is no "right path" that everyone can ever agree on in hockey, but said that there is zero argument amongst scouts at the NHL and college levels that it is the best choice if a player is committed or is trying to earn a scholarship at the Division I level.

We agree that playing the in the USHL is the primary path to D1.but said that there is zero argument amongst scouts at the NHL and college levels that it is the best choice if a player is committed or is trying to earn a scholarship at the Division I level.
We don't agree that leaving high school early to play in the USHL is the best path.
No two stories are alike as each of the players is different and each of their situations is different but this post is about players who leave high school early. Some have opinions whether it was, from the outside, a good decision. For some it was but for others is may not have been. We really don't know the answers for this group from the 2010-2011 season yet as it has to play out but most here seem to think the decision can wait, except for the NTDP, until after high school is done.

Seems like it isn't working very well for Pilot. As he was cut from New Mexico after not playing very much. He was with Minnesota Aces but I see he is scratched from thier roster as well. Not much room at D3 schools for guys with 78 PIM in 11 games. Big problem with juniors, some teasm want to make bigger players into fighters and it does nothing for thier development. Also cant be good for him as he is still high school age and moving around for hockey studies will suffer.
