large part of a team's identity is their starting goaltender - as I've said before 3 goalie rotations don't work. If you don't understand that, you don't understand the goalie position. It's a MENTAL game and a leadership position. Also, part of the rap on MN goalies is that they don't get enough games (referring to a 25 game season, not to mention dividing that by 2 or 3). I am not saying the losses are the goalies fault - it's a team game. However, if GR wants their goalie to be there for them in March (especially a sophomore that's going to have to play behind a softish D) - better get that development/maturation started soon - that don't just fall out of the sky. Even Shepard took a year (NAHL) to find his rhythm at the next level

The point you are missing is sometimes you have to do a rotation to figure out which goalie is going to be your main guy down the stretch. Klatt is absolutely correct in doing what he has up to this point. Sometime in the near future, I agree it will probably be best to choose a goalie to play every game. We aren't even through Decemeber so there is no reason to be in a panic or even be questioning the decision of a guy who was head of scouting for an NHL team, and btw that team is doing pretty good in the Eastern Conference due in large part to the players he selected.

Your team gets the "level of flak" that they do bc they got super fans like you yapping their mouths non stop on them. Like I said yesterday (and you somehow still refute in your thick head) rapids is inconsistent at best.

When you put your team out there and they get beat expect you are gonna hear about it! Simple as that. I put LN out there last 2 seasons and have again this season. The big difference is they HAVE and will continue to produce bc they have the heart of a champion and a no quit attitude in them. When they have lost (very rarely) I am here to take it on the chin. Not make non stop excuses about them like you and the rest of the orange colored glasses faithful always do. People are sick and tired of hearing about them quite frankly. Especially for a barely above team at best. I know it's only December but rapids doesn't have it mentally and barring anything crazy in my mind there is zero chance they come out of 7AA.

Now you can respond and say something stupid like "sats is nuts" or "your analysis is so far off"etc but the fact of the matter is I hit the nail on the head with my analysis of rapids last sat after their loss to LN. They have 2 very skilled forward lines, a very thin blue line who can't transition quickly and a mess in the nets with the 3 goalie rotation. Good luck getting any confidence going as a netminder playing like that. The problem with their top 6 is you can't expect 7 and 8 to carry your team as Sophs (although they are your best players) and your are getting zero leadership from 21 who should be putting this team on his back and taking them to the promised land but that just isn't happening.

DJ, Klatt could become a good coach based on what he is. The fact he was a NHL scout is credible but not a precursor to coaching success. Is Gordie Roberts a better coach than Randolph because he has 2 Stanley Cups? I think Klatt was a good choice because he is a no-nonsense NW suburb guy. The hope for GR's sake is he can get through to this group of kids along with his ability to tell Garth Snow to Draft Anders Lee.

The bottom line is I have an optimistic outlook on life and I don't allow negative minded people like yourself to influence my view. If you don't like what I post, no one is forcing you to read it or give it the level of attention you do. I really have not put them out there anymore than YHH, Lets Play Hockey, and many other media outlets this season. I still believe Eden Prairie and BSM are the top 2 teams right now and 3-15 are very even and can beat each other on any given night.

AMEN DJ! What a pleasure to read a post that is not littered with Sats trash. The Rapids faithful will remain positive no matter what kind of sadistic twist Sats puts on everything.

I know the team Rapids is quite well. I go to every game. I don't need to read you're "spot on analysis" after every game that you compiled after reading the Internet score sheet. I am also well aware of history and the hurdles Rapids needs to overcome this year. But thanks for the reminder. Like DJ said, it's not a bunch of orange and black Internet fans claiming GR has a good team this year. Karl, LPH, and other hockey professionals have ranked them top 5 before the season even started, which I think was premature but that's their job and that's what they said. The pieces may be there and it's a matter for the coaches to make them fit together by the end of February. Like everyone is saying about East it's only December. No matter what happens I will remain optimistic and enthused about this season. I really like Klatt as the coach and believe he can get the team to the next level.

Karl's top 2 of 3 teams in 7AA preseason have gone 0-4 and 1 -4 in last 4 games played respectively. Spin it how you want DJ this section is weaker than anticipated at this part of the season.

As far as rankings are concerned, in case you haven't noticed LPH is about as off as you and DJ are, if YHH could get his bias out of the way he may be a bit more accurate, and other than Karl's rankings the rest mean nothing.

Top 5 before season started is top 5 before season started. That's all.

Stay optimistic all you want. It won't change where your team ends up. How soon before you all start blaming Rothstein for this season falling off rails?

Randolph's resume gives DEast a shot.

GR has enough talent.

Cloquet and Andover could beat someone.

DMarshall may get healthy.

Forest Lake, I have no idea.

St Francis and Cambridge probably not.

So GR guys you really don't need excuses. Give Klatt a chance and quit being fodder for Sats.

DM is still without Jon Hanson who has been out with a knee injury since before the season started. He is one of their top D-men, and a senior, and will wear the captain's C when he returns....probably in January.

Elk River has the inside track to the #1 seed, we'll see if they keep a grip on it or let it slip through their fingers. They don't play a lot of 7AA games, so as usual common opponents will be a huge factor.

Fluid situation, don't like the weather here, wait an hour. ER will have their hands full Tuesday. Bottom line it was a bad loss for GR if ER can win some games.

Would really like to hear from STMA fans on what they saw in their home win over Duluth East compared to their home loss to St. Francis. St. Francis has home games the first week of January vs Duluth Marshall and Cloquet. Forest Lake is at Grand Rapids next week, which will probably be a 2-1 type of game if recent history continues. Andover is at Elk River in a couple weeks and Andover has given Elk River fits in recent years.

I think other results of the teams that beat East this year (specifically STMA and Cloquet) demonstrate that they get up for their games against East more than they do for their other games.

I'm not sure why East can't handle these teams even when the lesser quality teams play inspired hockey.
