Austin's reign is over. =D> =D> It is as I predicted. The big 3. Northfield, Faribault and redwing.

Taking names I hope you enjoyed playing with swiss and company. Swiss went to state 2 years in a row. You rode her coat tails.

We didn't play our best hockey, but we didn't have to. It was only Austin.

To bad Austin was cheated though. Once again as in every game that is played in Faribo family officials. It is said that this is what it comes down too.
The officials game plan: lets listen to stupid green machine who thinks he knows all. Call everything on Austin even though they only did half of those calls.
Just say it green machine Austin was cheated. Wait until next time.

Cheated? how silly.
Be happy Austin. Enjoy and remember those last two years. Those years will have to hold you over for at least a decade. I am glad Faber and Jenkins were smart enough to graduate. I would of hated for them to hang around any longer.

Northfield is playing great hockey. Taking names has been kind of quiet. I wonder how she played last night?

Go Falcons.

That is what I said. CHEATED!
Last two years were good. This season just started. This one game does not determine who is the best.
Faber and jenkins were not the only people playing. Austin is a team. That means they work together. What can you say about Faribo??

I guarantee there are no out of work, anger management therapists, in Austin. Any who need work, should move down there to the south.

Fairbault is one of the most balanced teams in 1A. We have always been. Austin has always been carried by a few stars. News flash: those stars are gone. Here is a blast from the past from my half cousin tiger power. This sums it up for all of the newbies.

ok i promise not to use names... austin has two really good players- and 16 ok to terrible players... out of the two fowards one is obviously well known but after watching them play together for many years i know that that well known foward wouldn't look as good or have such eye-popping stats without that other player

Austin doesn't need the injured foward to win games but they would lose a lot more without her

both fowards(Faber & Jenkins) are the team and each can do what needs to be done solo if they need to..

so swiss you are correct Austin doesn't depend on just one player... they depend on two
Priceless.

You keep all of the post even from 2 yrs ago.
Thats a creeper for you I guess.
Creepers should go to a hospital. You must live at one and just haven't recovered yet.

Austin vs. Albert Lea Tuesday:
Will be a close game. But if Austin has a good game (faribault was a mistake) they should come out on top. Maybe not by much, but it's still a win.

Can't quite follow this? Why is it that the parents always blame the official and not that the players didn't play very well. Faribault didn't play well either and still scored 4 goals. And from what I hear Austin couldn't play any better because of lack of talent. So why blame it on officials. Are you people really that idiotic that you think the refs come from the town where the event is held? Come on, the Big Nine and MN State high school league line up the refs and these refs are lined up way ahead of time.
You need to find blame somewhere else! Possibly the players/coaches or even parents?
My prediction for Albert lea vs Austin...AL by 3 goals.

Please. If you did follow it you'd be the only one. And we'd have to call the men in white suits to lock you up in the funny farm.

Thats a good one Bensonmum! I back you up 110%.

I am aware that officials are picked weeks before the game. Some just always favor the falcons though. This is so old fighting with the falcons. A waste of time actually. Every team has talent. Mostly every team plays fair. I think we both know who doesn't. It was a good game for what it was. More calls could've been called. I will just leave it at that.

Wow...such hostility here. What happened to good old fashion banter! Instead of everyone being so high and mighty regarding home teams...try calling it like it is! Wait...I guess some do see things through rose colored glasses! Austin...seriously...it's over! Move on and hope for the best as your program rebuilds. What's with all of the Faribo haters? Is everyone really too afraid to admit that the girls are good?

I want to give a shout out to Albert Lea, who came into Rochester and played well! Mayo outshot them heavily in first and third, even shots in second, but AL had some good scoring chances in first and second...

Mayo 2 - Tigers 1

Mayo did not play well today, but I would still like to say good effort to Albert Lea during the whole game! A game their girls can build on...

For some reason, I have a feeling faribault won't have much to brag about after tonights game. Who knows, but I guess we'll find out! good luck to both teams! :)
My predictions, Falcons won't know what hit em, and NF wins by 4.

Northfield 4
Faribault 2

Northfield was down 2 to 1 going into the third period. I thought both teams fought hard despite all the penalties. It seemed like it was rarely a 5 on 5 game. I'd say the trick now for Northfield is to keep it up, something they've never seemed to be able to do in the past.

Congrats Northfield. It was a great game. Northfield is the new sherriff in section 1A. The team to beat. I still like the big 3. (Northfield, Faribault and Redwing.) Hmm, who picked these 3 in what order. I am the greatest.

Seriously, the best game I have seen this season. Two quality teams playing legitimate hockey. And no one cheated.  Austin move on, and get real. Your talent is gone, stop making silly excuses.

You know falcon 89 it seems like the news team in Austin is on your side. On the news last night for sports they brought up how is the team without Jenkins.
My opinion is that they have a couple strong players but that obviously isnt enough. Maybe if the coach would've started playing those players last year or at least enough where they would get some knowledge of playing with the speed of varsity. Those players would know what to do out there. The team does have talent. They just need to find it.
They have one new girl I noticed who will become a great player down the road.

Funny......hello Mr. Obvious, everyone is on my side!!!

Blame the coach, obviously he was coach of the year in section 1A last year. Obviously, RSI and I would agree on that. Obviously, a player getting a few extra shifts at varsity, would not make or break that player. Obviously, a player should know what to do out there, before they go out there, or they should not play. Finally, obviously this team has little talent.

Accept the obvious and move on.

Well might have witnessed one of the stranger games of all-time last night. Red Wing goes into New Prague and out shoots them 60-10 and ties 0-0. New Prague manages 1 shot in both the second and third. Complete domination from start to finish by Red Wing, but the score has the last laugh in this one sided affair.

No doubt I'm a Red Wing homer, but everyone might want to take note that were vastly improving as a team and average age is about 14.

Look out!!! :D

Shyler Sletta, New Prague's sophomore goalie, had a 54 save shut out to tie Red Wing last night.

They are young like Faribault. Do they have a 14 team also?

No there is not enough girls to make a U14, but within the next two years there will be enough to either do a U14 or JV. Scott Haley and Bob Oberding have done an incredible job recruiting and getting the numbers to just support a girls program. Eight years ago the girls program was at a crossroads, but now it is stronger than ever.

The younger girls that play varsity have showed they belong there by their stellar play so far this year. They have never looked out of place and have actually contributed more than their fair share. I think Haley would be the first to tell you that 7th and 8th graders aren't exactly his first choice, but this group of 7th, 8th, and 9th graders aren't your normal group of hockey players. :D The level of play has so greatly changed within the last three years that he took over and the following years of girls coming up will have to play JV or U14's before moving up to play varsity. This speaks volumes of the progression of the program and what Haley and Oberding have done.
