Just because he's been around forever doesn't mean he is immortal, however, after toughing out the afternoon session with Phil Housley, Lou is a large upgrade on the color commentary side.

Little Falls Fans

Post by gopher4life »

AGAIN, little falls fans prove again they know NOTHING about hockey...

1) 2nd period a flyer player went in for a big hit, in front of LF student section, he made contact with the Hawk player. Problem is the Hawk player wasn't even thrown of his route...result....the whole LF student section bursted out with cheer.... :?: :?: :?:

2) Will LF fans PLEASE think of a chant OTHER then "Let's go Flyers let's go"..."Let's go Flyers let's go"..I heard that chant 10 times throughout the game, and they're was no other chants by the LF student section...Way to support your team Flyer fans!

Exciting game to watch.. hats off to Little Falls.. that first line is sure something! Hermantown came out flying in the third and once again pulled off one of their trademark comeback wins.. good luck to these teams the rest of the tournament!

i was very impressed with the festler, hanowski, hanowski line. little falls played step for step with the top a team in state. their goalie kind of let them down with the 4th goal but overall they need to be applauded for the effort. Hermantown is just too strong defensively and the LeBlanc and Krause line buffered the top LF line. Good game. Congrats Hermantown.

Once again...LeBlanc (5 pts)... a very quiet 5 pts... he didn't play 1/2 as good of a game as he did in the section finals against Hibbing...imho... and that would go with the whole team... they seemed to step it up in the section finals and make Hibbing look very average (which they are not-tied Grand Rapids twice for one and handled Virginia). Tonight they didn't seem to carry the energy or effort... Against Hibbing they were on every loose puck... all 3 or 4 lines were getting to the puck, I didn't see that at all tonight, but they still are showing WHY THEY HAVEN'T LOST... they just SEEM TO KNOW HOW TO GET IT DONE. (.)

If the Hanowski and Festler line stays together next yr, I expect Little Falls to be a top 3 team next yr again. Got to remember they are 10th/11th graders.

Sidenote: I watched the Class A semi's from last yr on Sunday and realized how easily Duluth Marshall handled Little Falls last yr. The Hanowski brothers and Festler are improving. I look forward to watching those Edina sophs. tomorrow.

There are no excuses. LF was right where they needed to be after 2, and Hermantown controlled all the play in the 3rd. Hermantown stayed poised and battled back from behind to take control of the game.

The LF boys have beaten and played with many of the best throughout all of their youth levels. They have already played in many big games at the state level. I don't know why people don't seem to realize that. Think about it.

All the players can do is excel with the schedule and section they are given. Hopefully a few people got a chance to see that this very young LF team can play the game. And that they can play with the best.

Hermantown showed why they are ranked #1, congrats to them, now go win the whole thing and finish off the unbeaten season in style.

Sticks..

I agree with you...

My posts had also stated that Hermantown is undefeated for a reason.
Those who are critical of schedules should realize this:
Hermantown was 3rd in State as Bantams a couple yrs ago. 3rd in Class A last yr. I believe EDINA was 1st.

Is it evident yet? They just happen to be a Class A school.

Does LF have some quality players in the lower levels of their program? Or is this group of 9th, 10th, 11th graders the best we'll see?

Having not watched either team this year and only going by the experts, I was impressed with LF. They are pretty good players and I didn't think the 2nd and 3rd lines were out of place at all. I was very disappointed in Hermantown, expectations were much higher. Enough with the AA talk. Be happy with being a dominate A team.

Nice win H-town, but you are still a little over rated. LF will go over to the U and take 5th, but remember LF is young and will be back next year.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I believe that they have a very competitive group of Pee Wee A players.

Uh WOW. I really didn't see this coming. I expected LF to get outplayed most of the game but they really controlled the tempo in the first two periods and looked much better then Hermantown. I just want to know what happened in that third period. Were they just dead tired? They sure looked like it because they should have had the momentum with being ahead in the third period and with how they were playing but they just got manhandled the whole third period. They couldn't do anything let alone move the puck out of the zone and they even got worked when they were on the powerplay. I mean, Hermantown was setting up in the LF zone when they were shorthanded. I was very excited and had high hopes with the way they played in the first 2 periods when they were winning despite many mistakes. I also thought there was a couple of goals that should have been stopped by Sperl but he still made plenty of good saves and the defense could have helped him out more. It was a really exciting 2 periods but it seemed the third period didn't carry the same excitement and intensity because I think the level of play overall in the game was best in the first two periods. Great game by both teams. WAY TO GO LF

First, ap hopefully Festler comes back so it will be easy to make it to state next year and second, d3puck, i believe you are correct. I heard one of their younger teams beat Moorhead at state or something like that.

Exactly right Syd. I've been saying they need one more year but they still had a very legitimate shot to win this game and they probably should have. Is there anyway to start a "come back next year" petition or campaign for Festler and Ben next year? I still think LF is the 4th best team in the state but they are either going to be going home with nothing or the 5th place trophy which is a shame. Warroad didn't look like a true 4 seed tonight. And one more thing, with the way DM played today I think LF might be just as good as them. I know that goalie for DM has a reputaion for letting some easy goals in like he did today.

Seed all or seed none. It is sad because the way the drawing went this year it might make for a couple of boring semi final games. We'll see how Warroad-Hermantown goes and for AA I think Grand Rapids got screwed. How do you not give the team that comes out of that brutal 7AA section a 4 seed. I also think Blaine is overrated which may make for a more entertaining quarterfinal than semifinal game in AA too. We'll see if the Edina-Rapids (1 seed vs drawing or what I like to call the rightful 4 seed) game is the most entertaining of the day tomorrow just like the Hermantown-LF game was today. Its sad that one team is going to get screwed in both A and AA.

They need to work alot more if they want state. LF played a good two periodes, but it takes a whole 3 to win, they looked slow and didnt know what to do in the 3rd. I am a LF fan, but when they came out in the 3rd they looked tired, and fliped the puck to the other team. They need more time with players they played with tonight, thats for sure. I knew once I seen the LF fans being retarted to those of the HER fans once they where coming out, they we just maken a full out of them and the LF fans totally. It was a good game all around till the third! I also think them ugly ass jearseys should be burned. They are ugly and dont come close to what LF simbals! I still think that I seen the best D I have seen LF play all season, keep that up next year and get more power to take it to the 3rd, and then you will take it. You all played a good game till the 3rd, and you all went sour after that.

It was a great game to watch. I think LF finally earned the respect they deserve. That said, I think they definitely need to schedule some tougher teams to play. When you coast through just about every third period of every game with a huge lead, you don't learn how to finish tough games. It was obvious that Hermantown was battle tested and capable of coming from behind. I think probably because of some very close games against excellent teams. I thought LF played with or better than Hermantown through most of the middle of the game, then they ran out of gas. Their top line was on the ice more than usual and just got worn out.

Good luck to Hermantown. And hopefully my Flyer boys will win the consolation round. Finally, hopefully Festler gives it one more year with LF. With some of these other underclassmen improving toward the end of the season, I think LF could advance further next year.
