That game on Sunday felt like a game the Twins were supposed to lose, but the baseball god in charge fell asleep on a cloud or something and let Morneau, Castillo and Mauer swipe it from the A's.
The starts they got from Baker, Silva and Bonser are exactly what this team needs but Detroit and Anaheim are coming in this week so they'll be facing some more potent lineups. Silva and Bonser will need to pitch well enough to win, Baker and Garza will need to pitch well enough to keep the team in the game.
I think they'll be hard pressed to come up with 11 out of the next 15. They need to win those series particularly against the Tigers.
The Twins can't waste opportunities like this, to lose at home 1-0 to pitcher with a 5.0 ERA is nearly impossible but the Twins managed it. Robertson had zero quality starts and 1 win since May 19th. They found a starter but still are desperate for a bat.
By the way the sound you may be hearing is the Evil Empire picking up steam, they're 10-4 in July while the Red Sox are 7-7. The Red Sox have 8 games coming up with Chicago and Cleveland while the Empire gets Tampa Bay and KC. The deficit will be 4 by August.
Neut, Thanks for your call and welcome to the show. How are things in downtown Centennial? A lot of fine folks call that great city their "hometown" .
Anyway, you make a good point. After last nights game it is apparrent that the Twins need better pitching.
The Tigers are only first in the league in batting average and runs scored and we gave them one run last night, which was unearned. This is just way too much. We need to upgrade our pitching so the other team gets a negative 1 for a score so we can win 0- minus 1.
Again, thanks for your call and say high to the mayor for me.

Cleveland +16 no comeback today, lose to Sox 5-1
-----cut line -------- Seattle +13 big losers to the orange birds last night Twins +5 can eliminate all ground lost yesterday with win tonight New York +3 still creeping upward Toronto-3 Oakland -5 already trading away its parts for next year's campaign
I'm confused, you said you had golf on your mind with those "scores" you are given and yet the team with the worst golf score is the winner?
As much as last night's loss sucked, a win tonight would cancel out the loss last night (as you said) but with two losses from the Indians in a row and a loss from Seattle last night (cross my fingers for another) we'd actually be catching up a lot of ground on the wild card.
If CLE loses two in a row it would be a result of losing today and tomorrow not because of yesterday and today because before today which was yesterday they actually won even though it looked like they were going to lose, now if SEA does lose tonight that would be two in a row because as we both said they lost last night, meanwhile if the Twins can win tonight and the Yankees lose that automatically means Toronto won but if the Mariners win tonight to avoid two straight loses, then nothing actually changed in two days, however if the Twins lose again tonight they will lose ground in the race regardless of what happens in SEA and NY as a result of the CLE win yesterday and the fact that either NY or Toronto will win.
This should clarify things at least through the completion of play today.
See this is why Baseball is the thinking man's game, Mike Tice wouldn't have made it in this trade because he doesn't have six days to figure out what has happened and what needs to happen before it actually happens again.
You're right. I was thinking the 11-10 game was yesterday. Either way, Santana will throw 7+ SO and give the twins the opportunity to win. If we hit the ball, he'll win 12, hopefully but his ERA below 2.5 and pull closer in the Central/Wild Card races.
Cleveland +16 @TEX
-----cut line -------- Seattle +14 @TOR starting Fri. Twins +4 win today means they are 5-2 after the break New York +4 winners of 5 straight Woods -2 3 birdies, 3 bogies, 1 eagle, currently two off the pace Toronto-4 need to get out of NY Oakland-5
Cleveland +17 continue their win one lose one trend
-----cut line -------- Seattle +14 Twins +3 New York +3 Woods +1 Toronto-3 Oakland-5 Sergio-6 leader with an even rd of 71 today

Yup, 3 one run games to one of the best, they are right in there. The Twins certainly won't quit,....but will they have enough? Going to be fun to find out.
That is what is great about baseball,....each game is not over until the last out is made (time doesn't run out).
A few days ago I sent Leyland a book,
I know he's been gone and has yet to give it a look.
When he returns, he'll find a phonebook in half,
Some warning he'll think, then sit back and laugh.
On this sunniest of days, I've never seen a mood so low,
Just read Souhan and his Doomsday Scenario.
Movies are fake, but their words are for real,
Remember Shawshank and Andy's ordeal,
Red told Andy to get busy livin,
So he climbed through poop to get out of prison.
The Twins are there now and I know what they'll do,
One series at a time, they'll emerge from the poo.
Think of this before you write off the Tear.
Since the Break, they're still one over square.
Cleveland +18 trends say they lose tonight
-----cut line -------- Seattle +14 lost to TOR 1-0 Twins +4 6:10 pm New York +3 beat TB 7-3 Woods-1 69-74-69 will need to go low on Sunday Toronto-3 beat SEA 1-0 Sergio-9 it's in the Jaws, can he finish it off or do what the leader did last time @ Carnoustie
