Thanks 4 the update hhh!!hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:in hill zone...HM send it out..widing...no icing....wow what a play by widing!!! 10 seconds... HILL wins!!!
GO PIONEERS!!!!
If the LPH Ranks mean anything Hill would be 4th don't know if they take head to head in to account. That'll be tough if they have to play Roseau. The Rams beat Moorhead by 5 HM only beat them by 1 and that was last game b4 sections. Phillippe needs to come up big at Xcel!!

HM - WBL
Just home from the Coliseum. It was another great HM - WBL game. The Coliseum was packed. It was a very tense game. Hats off to White Bear Lake. Owen Collette was great in goal for them. HM had the advantage in scoring chances. Joe Phillippi was also very solid. The HM D played much better than they have in recent games and the forwards were getting back to help. They will need to play this way to have any success next week. Congratulations to the Pioneers and Coach Lechner.

In the '88 Champ game don't think the crowd - other than respective student sections - were cheering for either team. Nowadays we'll get to listen to the idiots in Section 207 and their cheers like "Daddy's Money" and "Public Schools"hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:well if that is the semi final game at least the crowd will know who to cheer for...can you imagine> that crowd would favor edina over hill....Pioneers_18 wrote:Thanks 4 the update hhh!!hockeyhockeyhockey wrote:in hill zone...HM send it out..widing...no icing....wow what a play by widing!!! 10 seconds... Am I glad I made it back for this one. A typical HM/WBL final in which the game was decided by a single goal. I was impressed with the H-M defense tonight..they kept many scoring chances away from White Bear offenders. The forwards for the Pioneers had a pretty strong game themselves and weren't afraid to hit or receive one. In the first period alone I counted about 4-5 missed scoring opportunities that could have put the game away early.
Either way it was a classy battle and Owen Collette made some huge saves when he needed to for his team. Joe Phillippi looked comfortable in net as it was his third straight section final. Congratulations to the Pioneers on the win and best of luck in the state tournament. Now lets go do some damage!

the refs of this game were bad... walter had a goal for white bear but the refs blew the whistle too early when the puck wasn't covered. Also nice job by Swanson for just about scoring in the third but Joe caught the puck on the knob of his stick. Its to bad white bear lost, they deserved to win this game... they had a tough year and still came through to have a good season. Yes they lost a few good players but they proved they dont need them hanson, johnson, and villanue to win a game. These boys are a great team and stuck together to make it a great season. White Bear really played their hearts out tonight and didnt stop til the final buzzzer. HM looked like they barely cared they are going to state...

So how many of the WBL boys follow the lead of hanson, johnson and leave thier senior year for jrs some where? Was this the last section final for a few years for the Bears?

I think they might be a good team again next year... they have some upcoming talent.

The refs did just fine. Both teams I thought were being careful to not take penalites. In my opinion, smart. You don't want to give the other team a man advantage in a game like this...not even once. Both had their opportunities, Hill Murray scored 2, White Bear 1, Hill Murray deserves to win. How do you mean they act like they didn't care? Both teams played very well tonight, especially the goal tenders.mnhcky65 wrote:the refs of this game were bad... walter had a goal for white bear but the refs blew the whistle too early when the puck wasn't covered. Thank God for White Bear Lake and Hill Murray. That first game was boring after the first period. I was going to be quite upset if I attended 4 section games at the Colesium this year, and all 4 almost put me to sleep.
