This just in from the AP wire:

Dave Stead and the MSHSL Kill Captain America!

Defender of Freedom and Traditional American Values, Captain America, was shot to death by Dave Stead and the MSHSL (Wednesday, March 7th) in order to clear the way for the anti-freedom, anti-transfer policy!

Moreover, the timing of the attack, coinciding with the start of the High School Hockey Tournament, was designed to prevent another Catholic sweep of the Championship trophies, since Catholics (caring the most about defending freedom and traditional American values) would certainly be in mourning!

This is the MSHSL's worst terrorist attack since they killed Superman in the early 1990's. After the 1991 Hill-Murray Pioneers won what would become the last real one-class tournament, Dave Stead and the MSHSL decided to kill Superman, the last man who could stop Dave Stead from destroying High School Hockey with the MSHSL Two-Class system!

Some Shinders are already charging $15 for the most recent issue of CAPTAIN AMERICA!

Wow, now all the catholics and private fans are gonna have a long wait until the NEXT lent. As Duluth Marshall is down 3-1 with 8 minutes to go, I guess it just shows that money can't buy a title. (trust me, I know, I'm a Yankees fan) Congrats to all the Northern teams (including Marshall) showing that whether you have 2,000 people in your town (Roseau) or 2,000 kids in your school, (Several Cities schools) you still have to play the games. Way to go NORTHERN Small schools.

Catholics UNITE!

Don't wait for another Super-Hero to save you!

Spider-Man is just a self-centered boy like Neutron-the-fourteen-year-old!

It is up to the Catholics to save Hockey (starting with Notre Dame and next year's U of H-M Gophers)!

Well, the Catholics didnt win but neither did the fat cat, behemouth, conglomerate, pagan , tax dollar black hole, overfunded, ultra liberal , Kwanzaa crowd, suburban schools.

And thats something, I guess.

Roseau was the best team in town this weekend. Great skating team and I like the way they forecheck. Anybody who thinks the center ice trap is a great system ought to watch film of the Rams.

I was at every Class AA evening session. Great atmosphere and good to see so many of the fine posters at the X and surrounding establishments.

Well, time to get to Mass.

There is still plenty of time left in Lent.

A great Lent it was indeed. No private champions, the transfer rule is a reality, Hill went two and home and the north rules again :D

The Lenten season has provided us with so much.

Bigotry, regionalism and politics has been abundant on the high school sports scene, just as we like it.

It looks like the anti transfer rule will become a political hot potatoe as the legislature throws it around. BIAFP and his ultra liberal clansmen pals' desire to burn crosses in the yards of children and families who dare to change schools will be bounced around a bit longer.

What a tempest in a teapot as it relates to hockey, eh? A school with 325 kids , 450 miles from the Twin Cities, wins the AA hockey championship and we are foaming at the mouth for an anti transfer rule.

Did Roseau steal all those kids from the suburbs to win?

The Rams should make these political hacks ashamed of themselves but that wont happen. The liberal hacks will push forward convinced that new rules to help them win is the answer. Pathetic.

Speaking of politics, what does Roseau's win do to the luster of Class A?

It strikes me as kind of odd that the Class A champ has twice as many students as the Class AA champ.

Congrats to Hermantown and all but this is too weird.

I have long defended Class A as a good thing to have but this changes everything. In the face of Roseaus's win how can anyone say " We need to have 2 classes so the small schools have a chance."

It was so refreshing to hear both Championshiip coaches say how proud they were to win with "their own kids", it was about the communities that embraced them, they represented the same community from mites through high school. Congratulations to two "Home Grown" Champions!

You watch way too much TV but I am familiar with kids that CDH and STA won with last year and they were all "theirs" too.

None of them were attending any other schools at the time.

I was reading the tournament program and they did a little article about the '67 Greenway team and how nobody knew who they were because Greenway was the name of the school and not the town.

Antonovich described how the kids all lived in different towns around the area and didnt go to grade school together and didnt really know each other until high school.

I was concerned that a some of the posters would read that and become traumatised.

You are not aware of a lot of things BIAFP.

A lot of the players on both those teams played in the same youth program that was privately funded and operated by a lot of Catholic families. They grew up together, and were home grown and they were definatley not somebody elses kids.

So, now you are aware.

absolutely, all the out-state communities do  The arenas are owned by the school district or community. The coaches are hired and paid for by the district or community. The names on the front of the jersey are that of the community. Any other questions about "community" based athletics?

Maybe you didnt understand the question. The question was: Which high schools have youth programs?

As far as the rest of your post, which cities finance and operate youth hockey programs?

Grand Rapids High School.......Grand Rapids Hockey Assoc.
Roseau High School................Roseau Hockey Assoc.
Hermantown High School.........Hermantown Hockey Assoc.

I can't speak for all out-state communities but I know the one I grew up in and the one I live in now work like this. The city/school district recreation director hires coaches, schedules ice time in the city owned and School District owned arena. The youth coaches and pee wee and bantam players attend clinics each fall instructed by the High School coach to coordinate playing systems. The parents do pay a registration fee but ice time and coaches are paid by the association/city/school.

Edina Country Club.... Must be a public course because it has the city name.

Minnesot Mining and Manufacturing Co. (3M) ....Must be state owned and operated.

You are a goof.

I do and I get up into your neck of the woods often every summer.

In the winter, my job takes me all over the state.

But you need to get out into the youth hockey community Mike to understand why when some high school claims players as 'their own' a lot of people do this

Or when your good buddy Dono Lucia, who can barley finish off Alaska Anchorage , thinks he knows how we should all behave and coach at the youth level, why some people get

Its a lot of work done and resources spent by a lot of people while others stand by with their hands in their pockets, unless they are sitting on them, and then claim the kids as "theirs".

Bader - If you look very closely you can see the cities of "Cretin" and even "Derham Hall" on the map. Check it out.
