But right now I'm looking at who is the best player on the ice this year and who is having the greatest positive impact for their team. I watched the two last week very closely, and Everson would have my vote right now, though it’s early with a lot of hockey to be played.
I will also say there are a hand full of other seniors, who with a big year, could very well over take these two, especially if they don't perform to the level of everyone’s expectations:
My Mr. Hockey Nominations
Edina-Everson, Sit, Fogarty
EP-Rau, Molenar
STA-Fleming, Reid, Schroeder
HM-Bahe, Becker, Controneo
Wayzata-Cameriski
White Bear-Wahlin, Birkinbine
Mtka-Shutt
AHA-Labate
Virgina-Hendrickson
Roseau-Omdahl
BSM-Daily
WBL-Wahlin, Birkinbine

Rau did last year, but get real guys Rau's the clearcut Mr. Hockey and barring injury it won't even be a race. He's just too good.High Flyer wrote:Not sure. Did Leddy??? Couple of observations:
Heard Everson is leaving for NTDP - if so he is out.
Think Rau could be strong possobility based on long track record
Agree with above- Frawley from Tonka is someone to watch- nhl scouts are
Jones from Wayzata could be added as longshot
Got a feeling it could be forward this year
Lot of hockey to play yet...

You sure? USA Hockey already release the U18 roster and he's not on it...Factsmatter1 wrote:Heard Everson is leaving for NTDP - if so he is out.
Roster
Also, they've got eight defensemen without him. Even if one of them bows out or gets injured, they probably won't need to add another.

Got the details... Everson will be with Edina this year, but he's filling in for some injured NTDP players early in the season.Factsmatter1 wrote:Heard it secondhand from team parent...The Exiled One wrote:You sure? So far this elite league season, I think one of the most impressive and dominate forwards I have seen is Cameriski. I just checked the stats on the Hub and I see he has 17 pts in 9 games which is the league leader.HockeyMN1 wrote:Rau did last year, but get real guys Rau's the clearcut Mr. Hockey and barring injury it won't even be a race. As for FREDFLINTSTONE's Mr. Hockey "clearcut favorite" coming into this year, I see he has 11 pts in 9 games that include 6 pts in one game vs. the lowly Norway…
Well then its obviously time to push the panic button. I mean, if Rau can't put up the best numbers in the elite league in September, how could anyone possibly expect him to do so in December??? I mean if he has a whole 6 less points than Cameriski, what's the point of even taking the ice??? Obviously he's lost his whole game and the U got another dud recruit. And damn those lowly Norwegians, they must have just let him rack up stats so he'd look at least halfway respectable. But nope, you just saw right through them didn't you. Great work. Look forward to seeing Cameriski accept the award this year.High Flyer wrote:So far this elite league season, I think one of the most impressive and dominate forwards I have seen is Cameriski. Not sure where Wayzata picked upped this new kid Camersiki. With Tony Cameranesi and this new Cameriski kid, Wayzata should be solid. Rau is still front runner. Top AA scorer last year.....I look for the same. Elite league stats....If it makes you feel good...go for it.

Everyone is just so sensitive....mghockey18 wrote:Tough world. Get over it.StayAtHomeD wrote:It makes me sick what the politics and overtraining have done to hockey. Just look at what happened to New Ulm this year in the Tourney. A bunch of kids who probably play 3 other sports plus work full time on their family's farm. They finally make a State Tourney and they get their butts kicked by a bunch of kids who play hockey 11 months of the year, parents that spend 10 grand+ per year on extra training.hockeyfan893 wrote:As much as I agree with you Stay, it never will happen. I sure hope it does though, there's lots of deserving kids that could be getting recognition.
The Mr. Hockey Award isn't about the best human being in Minnesota HS Hockey. It is about the BEST player in Minnesota High School Hockey.

I'm pretty sure the current Gophers wouldn't mind having a 100 career goal scorer on their team.mulefarm wrote:I believe he won the Hoby and played a few games in the NHL. Hey Fred, how many points did Rau have in his first his head to head match up this season with Everson the other night?FREDFLINTSTONE wrote:Dude,High Flyer wrote:So far this elite league season, I think one of the most impressive and dominate forwards I have seen is Cameriski. Round 1 goes to Everson
Great example of someone who couldnt hack it at the next level (college hockey). Bonin only scored 200+ points while in college. dominated in the AHL and in in Europe in what are two of the best leagues below the NHL. So he didn't make it as a 5-9 American in the NHL as it was 10-12 yrs ago? Do you have a better example than that?it means nothing. most of the mr hockey winners dont amount to a pile of dung found on the farm in new ulm. most of those guys get crushed at the next level? brian bonin? please. what is he, a boat salesman in white bear lake?? come on
From wikipedia so i can't say its a totally reliable source:
After being named Minnesota Mr. Hockey in 1992 for his play at White Bear Lake Area High School, Bonin entered the University of Minnesota. His stellar time with the Golden Gophers culminated with winning the Hobey Baker Award, given to the most outstanding collegiate hockey player in the NCAA, in his senior season. Bonin led the nation in scoring during the 1995-1996 season at the University of Minnesota, and was named a first-team All-American, WCHA Player of the Year, first-team All-WCHA, and team Most Valuable Player in both his junior and senior seasons
