More kids will go to Hill then Woodbury. Will Eastridge be starting a youth assoc?

There are no plans at this time to start an East Ridge Youth Association. Numbers in Cottage Grove are lower and Woodbury will start fielding two A teams at each level.

Not sure this is entirely true but there are a few moving to Hill. There are about as many going to East Ridge, purely by geography.

What dont you get about this?

8 to East Ridge - attend ER already
5 to Hill - already there
3 to Woodbury

No association for East Ridge no ice available.

East Ridge will have a solo Girls High School program next year.

By the way it sounds Park will be short numbers at the boys High School.

East Ridge will have more then enough with a full roster from this season and more coming in next year, so I imagine there will be some movement to Woodbury for a few.

Geez man get over it! We are all sorry that your kid didn't get his third handshake of the day from the Grand Rapids kids. Woodbury beat Grand Rapids, there are you happy??? Funny i didn't hear you comment on the Wayzata kids not shaking the EGF kids hands during that "customary" handshake. Its just not that big a deal. The Wayzata and Grand Rapids kids showed that respect in the true customary handshake when the boys line up at center ice. So before you start throwing out words like classless at a bunch of 15 yr old kids, maybe you should show a little class yourself.

Also, congratulations to Grand Rapids, East Grand Forks, and Cloquet for the outstanding representation of northern hockey! Hope to see those players at the Xcel Energy Center real soon.

Also congratulations to Osseo/Maple Grove in rebounding from their Friday defeat and winning the Consolation Championship.

Yes, I am always happy and by the way I don't have a kid on the woodbury team, just a fan of hockey. Oh I guess I forgot- CONGRATS Woodbury and Grand Rapids for great seasons. I am over it.

Dislaimer: I have nothing against any team, player or coach involved in this tourney, in fact I respect each involved in this tourney because I know it takes so much time, money and effort just to get there.

This topic however deserves its own thread!

"Do you really need 3 handshakes after title games?"

Seriously who started the 3 handshake thing? I would rather have 5 more minutes of game time.....They shake hands after the game in the handshake line, that is enough. Out of redundancy I may not have my team make the 3rd handshake either.

What happened to standing at attention - clapping for the opponent as they receive their medal and trophy?

What's next? will someone complain because the Coaches of the opposing team stopped clapping for the opponents players when they got their medal?" Keeping in mind there are 30-34 players on the ice getting medals. It gets old.

I don't take not shaking hands by Grand Rapids as being classless. Rothstein and his boys had the ultimate goal of winning the state tournament in their minds and the boys were obviously upset that they didn't finish what they wanted. They had already shook hands with Woodbury after the game and kind words were said and then Woodbury shook hands with GR kids when they got their 2nd place medals.

No need to shake hands again.

Grand Rapids is a first class town, a first class hockey team and doesn't deserve any flack for not shaking hands with Woodbury when Woodbury got their medals.

It was great to see the parents, grandparents, relatives in black and orange and the very young kids to high school kids with painted bodies and wild orange or black hair. They must have had a few busloads of people from Grand Rapids and they were all very congenial and cheered their boys on whether they won or lost!!

Kudos to Grand Rapids and their fans, parents, siblings and especially to their players and coaches!! Very good showing in the State and should be proud for their 2nd place performance. They also took 2nd as PeeWees 2 years ago, losing to Edina.

Very bright future for Grand Rapids!!

They shook hands when it ment you excpect kids that work there whole year for one goal and come up one goal short not to be devistated? they congratulated the winning team for there very nice win and then they felt there grief you dont say the same thing when wayzata does the same thing why dont you say that?

wonders if any of you have ever watched the Minnesota boys state high school hockey tournament. Have you ever watched the awards ceremony after the game and they have gone through the handshake line? Well I have and it is customary to shake medal winners hands as they get their medals. It happens every year maybe you should watch it. In fact it is a custom at every level of hockey. I wonder how it would have looked on TV if Minnetonka refused to shake Edina players hands as they got their medals. Maybe this is just a city thing, I don't know but if it is I appologize for assuming it was done statewide.

When does this tournament you speak of take place? sounds like something I would like to see, I think it could take off if people became aware of it.

I am sure Woodbury kids are crushed they didnt get the extra hand shake in. Make sure and coach them (or the parents I should say) so they do the multiple shakes when they lose to Duluth East in the big game at VFW State!!

Hey how about EGF beating Wayzata 3 0 when Wayzata only lost to Woodbury by 1 with 16 seconds left???

THey must have been all fluke goals EGF scored again ---Right?

EGF beats OMG and Wayzata- gotta be hard on the AA schools

Are you slow in the head??? After the game, when both teams are done patting their goalies on the back and line up at center ice, that is the custumary handed shake. Any others are extra and not neccasary. The two teams teams shook hands and the fact of the matter is both teams were classy. Congrats to woodbury on a great season. You need to get over it and move on with your life..
