It's offical. 3-2 EP advances.

Game was much closer than I figured it would be. Great fight by Hill Murray.

Whoever was commentating during that reviewed goal was horrible. He had no idea what he was talking about and kept insisting that it was a clear goal when it was pretty obvious that they were reviewing if the EP player interfered with the goaltender. He kept insisting that the puck was in the crease so it was ok, but the puck wasn't in the crease. I think that call could have really gone either way. Anyways, congrats to EP and Hill, they put up a much better fight than I thought they would.

Maybe the Pioneers have earned the nickname "cardiac kids" with three straight overtime finishes in playoff and state tournament games.

No repeat champion in A or AA this year.

Sounded exciting, what was the OT goal like? Would have been a bummer if EP lost.

Is it goalie interference when the Hill player pushed him from behind?

Shot by Leddy from the point, save made, rebound out in front of the goal. Several bodies in front, Erickson finds it on his stick with his back pretty much to the goal and a defender on him, he knocks it past the outstretched goalie. A great finish.

Erickson officially gets the winner. EP did not play their best by any means but they still pulled it out :D

I listened to 660 AM Radio. That announcer said the goal was clearly a good goal. His view was that the EP player in question was clearly pushed into the crease. The reply was reviewed by Sheppard, who has seen plenty of WCHA games.... He must have saw it the same way.

A great way to start the tournament off, I must say.

I was really proud of how the H-M boys charged back after a rough 2-0 first period to start the game. As the game advanced, it seemed as though H-M settled down and began to gain some confidence that might have been lost a tad in the first period. From there, it was a pretty darn even game with both teams getting their chances. Both goalies played solid hockey and couldn't do a whole lot about the goals that were scored.

Sure, I may be biased, but the OT goal was pretty questionable. What I noticed from replays was that the player backed into the crease BEFORE he was pushed any farther by an HM player, who actually just backed into him on accident. What I couldn't get over though was how Lou kept saying "the puck was in the crease before the player was"...clearly not true.

Either way, a great game and nice energy from both teams. Best of luck to EP as they move onto a tough Blaine team tomorrow night.

Best of luck to the Pioneers as well. Two more wins and you'll still have yourselves a solid trophy from the big show!

WBhockey, this is for you

Past 10 games between WBL/HM: Pioneers 10 wins, Bears 0

Section Champions 4 years in a row: H-M Pioneers

Need I say more for you?

WBL first round wins in state: 0

the boys played a hell of a game after the first period. they had that gameplan we saw through sections that was more defensive and out hustle your opponent. although we lost first round i couldnt be prouder of this team. losing 6 team members, 3 of them key players, mid season and still making it to state and almost making it to the 2nd round is quite an accomplishment. though they might not think it, they will realize it eventually. This is a team to look forward to for the next 2 years. Ben Bahe and Timmy should be great leaders as upperclassmen next year and I see big things for them.

and let us not forget duke, I hope all goes well for him!

as far as jitters go, both teams will have them. Zepeda and Jordan Johnson will probably be the only 2 players that are real comfortable. the teams get the benefit of the 11am game to not think about it as they watch the other games.

I cant predict this game. My brain says EP has more talent, but my heart says HM should pull off the upset with the heart they have been playing with. This should be a good game with lots of speed and some nice defense from both teams.

3-2 final score but I cant say who
well i guess my prediction was close
