Well then my stance would be that that school should be punished. Something like a 2-3 year ban on post season play, similar to how the NCAA handles infractions. But I still don't think we should punish all private schools for the sins of a few. Punishing Holy Family Catholic or SPA by making them p...

Seriously???? Thats your argument? Well for starters, everyone in the Private schools are there from somewhere else. There's no chance that you'd take into account kids that have been going to private school since elementary? Community based teams are not going to have the top to bottom talent a pr...

With open enrollment, ANY school can draw players from an unlimited area. Many public schools get players from outside their district as well. (Warroad? Elk River?) So to say private schools have an advantage in this sense is innaccurate. In fact public schools may have an advantage here. How? Let'...

I'm pretty sure these are a few of your unknowns: I believe #2 "Broncos" is from the old Archbishop Brady HS #4 " Prexies" is from the old St. Paul Washington and #5 "Saints" is from St. Bernards/St. Agnes (the do not go by the Bulldogs for Hockey due to the co-op with ...

I've been to both, the level of play in Tornto was much higher than Xposure. But I guess it would depend on what your future goals are and who has already talked to you. The scouts I talked to in Toronto also said that the knock on many Mn kids is that they only play against other MN kids. Now with ...

If we are spanning the entire history of high school hockey, you have to mention St. Paul Johnson. In the early days of the tournament, the Governors were the only team in the cities that could beat the northern teams when it counted. I believe they were the only non-northern team to win the tourney...

I did. I was referring to the "very competitive, and almost equal" part of what I said, not the not opting up part. Sorry if that was misunderstood. My bad. No problem. After all, it's just a message board. Anyways.....like you said earlier...Back to hockey: I guess for me, I just like th...

Re: Class System

I'm not saying they don't allow it, but it doesn't happen. There are a handful in all of state of sports that have 500 teams, whereas in a sport with 153 teams there are quick a few more. Seems quite excessive. Amazing how right after a thread is started it turns into something totally different an...

Don't even bring up Cretin. They opt up in EVERY sport because they think they are better than everyone else. Although this isn't a football forum, 9-man isn't a good example; if you talk to any football player "that's not football", so if you can play really football you will. Back to ho...

Having teams not opt up (like all other sports) would make the class A tourny so much better, while having them not opt up is making it a semi-tier, semi-class system. The good teams can opt up, but bad teams can't opt down, hmmm. Cretin opts up in football. As do a few schools that are, by enrollm...

I agree with blue breeze. If a small school feels they can hang with the big boys let them try. These types of games are what the tourney was built upon. These traditions are what make the tourney special. They've been around since long before you, or I, or this message board. And hopefully they wil...

What is the breakdown of players from each school on the team?

Is it close to 50/50 or does one school have a lot more players than the other?

My guess is that when there are enough players (about 30-35 in each schools) for both schools to field a competive team, they will split.
