Down here in Roch, discussions are ongoing between the Rochester CVB, the Amateur Sports Commission, the Mayo Civic Center Commission, and others about replacing Taylor Arena with w new ~6,000 seat hall anchored by a USHL team. If/when this comes to pass, this answers the question of what to do abou...

Target Center isn't nearly as awful of a building for hockey as most here gripe that it is. Since it was designed to be able to do both basketball and hockey, it isn't able to be very good at either. The primary reason the atmosphere at the Target Center was awful is because both games stunk. Minnet...

It seems clear to me that the 4AA semifinals will be at Aldrich and both the the 4AA and 5AA finals will be at Marriucci. Aldrich at 3,000 capacity is not big enough for the finals, which typically draw 5,000 or more. Marriucci is not a good high school rink. The Olympic size ice sheet is too big, ...

What they're really saying is that they'd never consider rebuilding their hockey rink infrastructure during hockey's off-season (i.e. March-September), since that would interfere with all of the horse shows/circuses/State Fair events that are scheduled during what they consider to be their peak-sea...

Did see representatives from several possible bidders for HDM 2015 at the games in Elk River checking out the logistics. 1 Range town, a west metro town and a large central mn town among those I heard about. Yep. Saint Cloud has been pretty open about their desire to host it in 2015. Any idea where...

I love listening to P.A. announce the Vikings games, if the tv and his broadcast were matched up I'd definitely mute the tv and turn on the radio. He is electric and doesn't sugar coat things. He's an overbearing loudmouth homer, who talks about players as though they're all his drinking buddies......

Red Wing to the Big Nine would give the Big Nine 11 teams, adding Northfield and New Prague as well could work, it would be strange in football but the Hiawatha Valley has made two divisions based on enrollment work pretty well. If Northfield goes to the Big 9, NP is the odd man out of the shuffle....

I'm pretty sure it's a few guys (I would guess more than 4) sitting around and there is no algorithm involved. Probably not more than a couple hockey people. As I've said, it's basically all geography (at least that's the company line of the MSHSL. In AA, it's pretty clear it's all about geography....

Good idea on shifting around to keep Hill-Murray and White Bear together. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Tier I/II tournament set up with the section final losers to the Tier II tournament? I wasn't old enough at the time to remember what the setup was. This is one class, 12 sections, strai...

12 Teams Tournament Compromise?
I was at the X last night, and the games were disgraceful, but that shouldn't be news to anyone who reads this forum. Quite frankly, the MSHSL has got to do something about the hockey tournament. Either that, or this is just a year with a HUGE gap between the good and the bad. On the way home I got ...

If done correctly, the Metrodome could be configured to seat approximately 30-34,000 in a fairly comfortable hockey configuration in the tunnel end of the stadium. I don't think that the state tournament would be able to be sustained there. As for the State Fair Coliseum, that pillbox can get plenty...
