CBOO: Strongly disagree from a development standpoint. My son has been to numerous Prospect Tourneys too. You point out that no one is watching... you are, his coach is, other players and parents. Hopefully your boy learned how to play the game at a fast pace, make quick decisions and developed pois...

The format needs to be changed- some of you are saying that A team like Breck would not make it thru sections. A number of other teams in AA did not make it to State that should also be participteing in order to decide the BEST team. Just because the Xcel sold out does not mean that EP was the best ...

As you know, it is not the players who decide to play at the AA level. In fact, most coaches do not have the power to pull the trigger. It is usually up to the AD and Headmaster (principal) of the school. I really like the 16 team format. How it would be organized, I have know idea. Sat next to a fo...

The Real 2009 MN Hockey State Champion? A vs. AA
Think about this.......... Little Falls, Breck, Warroad and St Cloud (maybe more) would certainly win games in the AA Tourney. Maybe they could even win the AA tourney! Breck beat Duluth East and Cretin DH in regular season. Warroad lost by a goal to Moorhead and also beat Roseau. St. Thomas did not...

94 Fire Hockey Club
The Fire Hockey Club would and has had have success in the Pee Wee Quebec Tourney. The only MN boys (with the 94 Fire) to have played in this event as a team, won their first game and then lost by a goal to the New York Rangers in their 2nd game (with Mark Messier coaching). It is not just about the...

Elliot: Chatting with the 93 parents after last year's tryouts, Doglover is right on with his comments. The MN Hockey and its Districts wanted to spead the love around. According to the parents, that this can only be the explanation for advancement of some players thru the MN U15 process. Of course,...

All the bloggers bragging about Breck and how weak the Tri Metro and other teams are seems to be forgetting about the last two(2) or three(3) years plus for Breck. They were nothing special. Yes, great to see their success and it would be wonderful to see them get to State. It has been a long time s...

You play them 2x because they are one of the best teams in the US (at least usually). I would even play them 3x like the boys do in Tier 1 hockey if given the opportunity. Culver's 2nd team (JV) usually wins the Indiana High School State championship on an annual basis. No other teams around Indiana...

Too late now to make a move for the 9th grader you have in mind-though I think it is all just hot air. He had his chance to move and did not take the opportunity before his 1st day of 9th grade. Now his parents need to move residences or sit out a year. Doubt he will be ALLOWED to move up to high sc...

work together?
Here is my question: why are we having this discussion if LP and the current coaches should be working together for the benefit of the kids? The current coaches are long term and have been coaching in the WYHA for longer than LP. They have coached PWs and Bantams as assistant and head coaches. Why e...

Returning head coaches at Wayzata PW A
Since Wayzata already has returning coaches in place at the PW A level, what does most of this blog really pertain to regarding this upcoming season? If LP wants to "assist" the existing coaches, I heard there was that option for a skills assistant. Since they have good non-parent coaches ...

Level 4 certifications
Greybeard58:
Thought all the 93 Fire coaches has their Level 3 certifications. However, to coach in a Tier 1 National Bantam Tournament (and playin games i.e. State and then Tier 1 Districts), I believe the coaches needed Level 4 certifications.

no more B1 teams
Most girls programs do it right too. How many girls teams playing U10 hockey in Rochester? 2 or 3? One very good A team and 25-33% of their girls playing A hockey. By the way, this is where the larger association have not had a chance to mess up on the percentages. For example, Wayzata has four(4) U...

A1 and A2 teams
Rochester does it right. They have A1 and A2 at each level. I would be interested in WHAT PERCENTAGE of their squirts, peewees and then bantams play A hockey. My guess is around 25%. Anyone know? In Edina, Wayzata, etc. at the boys level they have around 10% playing A hockey. This is an injustice to...
