Regarding the Minnesota teams beating the Colorado teams; The Colorado teams will be made up of birth year '97 and '98 kids. No '96's. Same with California teams. That one year makes a big difference.

That is exactly what it is. Minnesota and the rest of the US don't line up age wise. The rest of the nation uses January 1st-December 31st as their age classification dates. Minnesota is geared towards grooming their kids for high school hockey, while most other states don't have high school hockey ...
