So what is the deal with Mischke? What's not being said in the media? Is he the one that pushed for going A or was he fighting for AA?

Who's idea is it to keep trying to make the punishments more severe? We went from 1:30 penalties in a 15 minute period to 2 minutes like the pro's have for a 20 minute period. Then we added Fair Play points. Now someone wants to remove icing? Why stop there? Why don't we skip all of that and just aw...

ref- The intent of my post was not to be critical to you or any other officials. After you called me out on it and I re-read what I wrote, I can see how you got that impression. The examples I used were only intended to be examples to make a point, not criticisms of any refs in particular. I do see ...

If MN Hockey is truly serious about implementing the Standards of Play then the "Sunshine Point" is obsolete. Officiating is just as inconsistant as it's ever been, so I don't see the SOP having made much difference. Instead of gimmicks (Fair Play Point) to coax people to be nicer citizens...

Elliot- Please see my earlier (a year ago) posts on this thread regarding the scheme Wisconsin uses. As Goldie suggests- fewer districts with more levels. Take a look at the WAHA website too. I'm not saying we should copy it exactly but it does make a pretty good model. More State Tournaments- more ...

Took your advice ZG- got there plenty early- no problem getting tickets. Got good seats and watched a great hockey game. (It always is when the Dogs stick it to the Gophs.) It is a fun arena to watch a game like this- very close to the action. The DECC scatters the fans out too much.

Thanks!

Thanks Zamboni Guy. That helps a lot! Do you think I can buy tickets at the door and skip TicketMaster? $3.50 x 5 is another $17.50 I'd just as soon spend at the concession stand or local business.

Mars Lakeview Arena

I am thinking about making the 3 hour journey to see the female Bulldogs play the female Goophers on Sunday 2/18. I see that the game is scheduled for Mars Lakeview Arena not the DECC. The arena website lists seating capacity at 1,500. What is this arena like? How is the seating? Will it be too pack...

elliot70 you are a good guy. A true Bemidjian! I repeat- I'm not opposed to the idea of wearing one. I'd like to see a hockey equipment company come out with a lightweight- possibly insulated- version for on/ near ice personnel. Something that would provide some impact protection without having to b...

Youth Coaches Helmets- What do you really think?

elliot had a questionaire for serious answers only. Here is my truthful answer- but because I couldn't leave out the sarcasm (which some may find not serious)- I'll start a new subject. I plan to wear the helmet because the rules say I have to. It's probably a good idea to have one on, but I don't t...

Basically your whole association is classified- not indivual teams. Associations aren't allowed to jump up or down each year based on what they think their talent looks like that year. They can petition to move, but they need to demonstrate they'll be at that level for a few years. You have to play ...

Here is the explanation of the Wisconsin Classification system. There is more on the WAHA website www.waha-hockey.com Click on Guidebook- go to Article 2. Tier I is a classification for AAA teams. Tier II is all the "regular" associations. TIER II Levels of Classification Defined: Classify...

After plowing through the hundreds of posts on this subject I saw a lot of ideas (many self-serving) and I was a little surprised that there weren't ideas based on how other states might tackle this issue. Having been part of MN youth hockey for 35+ years I had the opportunity to experience Wisconsi...
