"I think they were in trouble the day they kicked Schmitz to the curb." Schmitz had worn out his welcome many years before they let him go. Decent guy, but his time was done.....Let us not forget that coachs are public employees. And the public had spoken...As for now......coaches will rot...

Lakeville North and South

Watched both Lakeville teams this week. They had back-to-back games in Lakeville. North was a well rounded team. Excellent team play, great defense and break outs. Puck reversal and passing was a joy to watch at this level. There were no star players on the team, they all worked hard, back checked a...

New coaches

"Lets focus on tearing down the new coaching staff if warranted at North"

The Krafty new coaches at LNHS will focus on repairing (not tearing) the program and deserve respect.

Schmitz and Rutt

To Randy Schmitz, I say Thank You for your many years, you were loved by some, hated by many. Almost removed once before, if it was not for your friends in the LHS admin, you would have been gone long ago. To Paul Rutt, You've just been fired for a second time from the same program, take a hike budd...

All State

Every girl listed All State by the press is worthy of their nomination. It is also worth stating that their are many players out there that are not mentioned and are just as good "if not better" then many of those officially listed. The press has a history of only looking at stats and not ...

LNHS

Just as bad was the practice that the LNHS coaches had before the game with Mayo on Tuesday. My daughter came home tired after the practice and completely ran out of gas the 3rd period as did the rest of the team. Mayo played wonderful in the 3rd and deserved the win. NEVER NEVER NEVER practice hour...

No he is not hurt and number 8 is not from STA, he got cut from South this year along with number 7, and Jethro Tull, I'm pretty sure you meant to say number 7 was the best kid in the state not 8. who is the kid that got injured then? Nope Ishfan - #8. Actually there are 5 players on Lakeville that...

Refs

A great story I heard goes like this. A coach of team is furious at a ref for a bad call. The ref comes over to him and is scolded for the poor officiating. The ref responds " I got an 80% correct score on my ref test this year. That means 20% of the calls I make tonight will be wrong, deal wit...

Elko South

Elko (Lakeville) South lost a good player in the win over Owatonna on Friday night. Without Dahlberg on defense, Elko will be at a disadvantage against Farmington on Tuesday.

The argument that one section is loaded with quality teams as apposed to another is a boring, overstated conversation that has been beaten to death for decades. As has been stated many times by many people "The MHSL has never been interested in getting all the best teams into the state tourname...

Having JR Gold tryouts before Varsity is a good idea. Many towns do not have a good turnout for JR Gold tryouts that are after their Varsity tryouts because the boys that just got cut are not interested at that time. By having the Varsity coach push most of the players to go to JR gold tryouts befo...

Boys vs girls

Here is a very bizarre twist. Since girls playing on boys teams is accepted. Why would it not be OK for a boy to play non-checking hockey on a girl’s team? Lets say he is small in stature and does not like the checking in boy’s hockey but still likes to play. There are no options for him except to p...

Answer

Here is how it worked for my daughter. She played with the boys from age 5-7. She then decided not to play for a year because she did not like playing with the boys anymore. She was odd girl out at all the parties and never got invited over to any small gatherings. A year later they started U10's an...

#2-#3

Yep, Lakeville North lost a few games they should not have. For the most part they played very good the last 3 weeks. Getting a 3rd seed is just as good as the second seed anyways and we are going to see North play Mayo to get to Farmington. Lakeville (Elko) South should beat Owatonna again but they...

Makin state

If you want to complain about who makes it to state and who doesn't you better get in line. The line stretches back about 60+ years. With that said the MHSL is not interested in getting all the best teams to state. They want the hottest teams at the end of the season from 8 geographical sections in ...

Mayo

Not to disrespect Mayo in any way. They have proved they can play with the big girls. It is based on the win/loss record of head-to-head competition. Farmington beat and tied LN and LS once each. That should rank them on top. Mayo did have a few let downs, tying Owatonna is one of them so they slip ...

1AA section seedings

This is how things are shaping up. 1 - Farmington 2 - Lakeville North 3 - Mayo 4 - Lakeville South 5 - Owatonna 6 - Dodge County 7 - JM 8 - Winona 9 - Century Top bracket will be 1 vs 8/9, 4 vs 5 Bottom bracket 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6 My guess in the quarter final's is Farmington beating Lakeville South and ...

Tossing the lumber

In your defensive zone, by a defensive player, a stick thrown at the puck or offensive player to prevent a scoring opportunity is a delayed penalty, as play continues if a goal is not scored or a whistle is blown, and the thrown stick deflected the puck or brought down the offensive player, a penalt...
