Agreed.
But this doesn't have a lot to do with the redistricting issue this thread was started for, does it?

Maybe you should start a new discussion--there are obviously lots of opinions out there.

Anyone have any more to add on the redistricting issue? Re: Redistricting

Yes, there is a lot of objection in Wayzata against two A teams...obviously, since it comes up every year and every year we end up fielding one A team at each level. I've never personally listened to both sides of the argument...my significant other has, as a board member.

I'd love to be able...

Re: Redistricting

Thanks for clarifying, Goldy. There's a debate in our association right now--and every year--about one A vs. two As. It's the "afraid of watering down" argument vs. the "give Jimmy a chance" argument.

How long has Rochester been doing two? Any words of wisdom you could sh...

Re: redistricting

Good post Yaw.
It's not about city population. I don't even think school district population is an accurate base, especially with open enrollment, and a wide range of participation rates. The right size measurement should be the number of registered skaters in each program. In Wayzata, that numbe...

redistricting

I'm afraid that Puckhead & I are never going to agree on everything. That's fine. It's probably because we've had different experiences in our years w/kids' hockey in MN. Come from different places.

He's incorrect in most of his assumptions about how things work in the association I've be...

redistricting

Quick reply to puckhead--

I get your point. You missed mine.

Bigger associations have deeper pools of skaters to draw from...and that has usually resulted in an advantage vs. smaller associations. It probably also results in a deeper pool of coaching talent, too...now that I think of i...

redistricting

Thanks for reeling us back in. I was worried that this thread would deteriorate into team-bashing. It's an important topic to lots of people...most of who are the silent majority.

As one of the only people from a "mega association" weighing in here, I have to say I'm still a advocat...

too much hockey?

What's the real issue? Time commitment? That's one of the benefits offered by C-league vs. a travel-level hockey team. Travel hockey can be too much of a commitment for some families...C-league (at least in Wayzata) is an option that allows kids to skate, compete, and still have a balanced life re: ...

Jr Gold B rankings??

Where can I find the rankings for Jr Gold B? The Metro Hockey league only tracks A...they used to track B as well. Anyone know how to find the rankings that will be used for regions?

four-peat

the last few years the JrGold A state came down to Wayzata, EP and Edina. Wayzata is up for a fourth consecutive title...and they're serious about repeating. Watch out everyone!

size matters

you're right...wayzata has 10 PeeWee teams in total. I was referring to the travel level, because that's where we've experienced the mega-size advantage most dramatically. but our C-league is quite large as well.

to be thorough, Wayzata has 7 Bantam teams A-C (5 travel, 2C), 10 PeeWee teams A...
