Re: Columbia Arena closing
it sounds like they'll start construction ASAP in hopes of having it ready in a year. They won't demo Columbia until after the new rinks are ready.

Raider hockey - you are right, my mistake.

Like I said, I just did a quick search, the original was under the "Athletics" search and I didn't see anything under 'Athletics' or 'Education' for the Special Session. The bill that was passed was buried as an amendment in the Omnibus Ed...

Re: Stat padding
Dusey - my point about players transfering was for those whose arguement was that they had really good youth teams that faultered at the HS level. My point was you can't expect the exact same results when you lose a bunch of good players for whatever reason.

edit - removed response to stat pa...

I updated my original post to include Jr B & C.

To answer a couple of questions...
First, this was the first year of the EJHL coming to the NAHL showcase. Even thought they only came away with 9 wins, there were quite a few 1 goal games or 2 goal games w/ empty netters. The EJHL teams...

Re: Juniors Level Of Play
OK, I’ll start, I haven’t posted in a while … Let’s just start with the US leagues for now. If you go to usahockey.com, click on Juniors, then click on Directory, there is a big .pdf file that lists all of the USA Hockey sanctioned leagues and teams for last year.

First, I want to start by sa...

Re: Helmets for Coaches
Even with the stone age mentality that Canada has towards hockey, they've required it for some time. Other than for insurance reasons, I don't see the reason for it for PeeWee's & under. I have seen some scary scenes when coaches take pucks in the head at the Bantam/Midget/ Jr. Gold/ HS levels, ...

Rinks
If you think that the rinks had nothing to do with Centennial's success, you are fooling yourself. Centennial's rink opened in 92 or 93, right when many of these kids on this year's varsity were starting hockey. Before then, Centennial had no 'home' and the program showed it. Within 2 years of openi...
