Appears SLP/CR goalie stole a game from Maple Grove. 29 shot shutout. Did a quick check and it looks like they have 4 straight shutouts going. Granted, not great teams but no way they should have beaten a team like Maple Grove. WEEK 10 RESULTS Unique week: If you remove mr right and mr left, we had ...

Don't lump me in, I haven't even given an opinion on the topic. I actually tried to recruit one of the girls to our boys team this year. She's a good player and could have helped us. I didn't care if she was a boy, girl or a Lorax. She decided to stay with the girls though. Sorry Jeffy95. My mistake.

Bluehawk, you are whats wrong with girls hockey. Seriously, one of your arguments is about practice jerseys??? Instead of complaining, go out and make a difference. Don't wait and expect someone else to do something about it. Your complaint is about opportunity for the girls, yet your solution is t...

My emotions have gotten the best of me. There are girl athletes that are every bit as capable of playing with and beating boys. If a boy want to play a girls sport let them play. Whether it be race or sex. Segregation is segregation end of story. From a true Constitutional standpoint separate but e...

BB82, basically you are saying girls should not play boys hockey and really shouldn't even be allowed to by MN Hockey. Those of us who have daughters that play/played boys hockey understand all your reasons for it. I never thought my daughter would and actually was against it. Until I saw how little...

Re: Father of a girl playing boys
I'm guessing that all of us who have had daughters playing on boys teams tell lots of stories. From things happening in locker rooms, to comments and actions on the ice (in front of officials) to comments and actions off the ice at the rink and at school. My biggest problems were with the associatio...

Girls Hockey needs to be looked at. U15A decision had marginal affects this season due to how late in the game the decision was made. But now that parents have had a chance to talk about it, we may start seeing JV teams disappear. Girls recruitment. Numbers are up a bit at the U8 levels. But high s...

Second, until boys can play on girls teams, I am totally against girls playing on boys teams. These girl skaters may indeed have the talent to play at the boys level, but a level playing field is a level playing field........ I agree. Oh wait, when did all the associations in the state and MN Hocke...

At U16, the HS Elite teams were pretty dominant all weekend. Grey team won the championship 3-1 over Shattuck. Sky Blue team won their first 3 games and only gave up 1 goal. Tied Chicago Mission in fourth game 1-1. There weren't any placement games other than the championship. Organizers just set up...

Hopefully some of the efforts by some associations will work and they will be able to help other associations learn how to grow girls hockey. Minnesota Hockey has access to all the data and can certainly see what is happening but it doesn't appear they are doing anything to address this issue yet. I...

Re: Girls Hockey is Growing!
If only you knew what was really going on. Just because some summer clubs have added teams doesn't mean girls hockey is growing in Minnesota. It only means there are more parents willing to pay for their girls to play in the summer. I would believe that the talent is getting better across the board ...

I realize there was sarcasm in your post about the loan, but in reality for many families there is a push to live beyond there means, ever drive through a neighborhood of 10 year old higher end homes that don't have decks on the back. Not that much different then the parking lot at a prospects week...

If your primary concern is with development then it really boils down to this. Does the HS team have a dedicated goalie coach or someone they bring in on a regular basis to work with the goalies? Does the youth program have a goalie development program? If the HS program has goalie coaching, then go...

All excellent points Bluehawk. I honestly think MN Hockey said ok to provisional Tier 1 just to get out from under the disaster they helped create with Achiever in the MSHSL. What do you think BE (the school) and Revolution (the teams) do now? Their fancy bus is all dressed up and no place to go? I...

That makes sense. But what about what happened in Duluth? That wasn't provisional. And now MN Hockey backtracking on that precedent? So Rev will play only outstate? And what about the people complaining about BE players having unfair advantage in competing in HP and similar programs because of thei...

I don't think they play in Minnesota at all. They would certainly encounter closer scrutiny of their players if they played in the MSHSL. Tier 1 is realistically not an option for them in MN anymore. Remember, they were only given provisional one year permission to run a Tier 1 program in Minnesota ...

Re: Thoughts
Here is an idea that District 10 floated a few years ago for girls. Put together semi permanent co-ops for all A level girls teams in the district. The district would put together the associations. Tryouts for A level teams at each age group would be held. Any girls not making the A level co-op team...

Re: Reality vs Fantasy
I think your idea could work. I'm just trying to point out the things that need to be overcome in order for something like it to work. Of course there will be some ice available. Early morning and late night hours are almost always available. Those winter hours are also about 40% higher priced than ...

Re: more thoughts
There are already more triple aaa teams than I can think of on the bothe the boys and girls sides. There is enough Ice in the are to make this work. Triple a is entirely private so if you are on one of those teams you may be carting your kid from CI to Lakeville, that is the sacrifice most people a...

Re: Thoughts
It is possible a hybrid could work but I think there are a couple barriers, besides MN Hockey, to it. First, the opportunity to play against other teams is pretty limited until you get enough groups up an running. So unless you get a lot of groups to start up at one time, there won't be competition ...

Re: The state of Girls hockey... is it bright?
Just curious what everyone's thoughts are around the "health" of girls hockey. More from a youth perspective. Are the youth pipelines filling back up? Creative recruiting ideas from associations? Will we see more co-op's moving forward? I don't think it is bright right now. I would say it...
