BadgerBob, you're quite the hater on Rochester Lourdes. Was your son or yourself cut from the team at some point, or are you mad that they are the top team in Rochester? I highly doubt there coach has talked to them about a Defenseman that will hip check their thighs and give them deep thigh bruises...

I like to watch high school hockey. You never know what can happen. It will be nearly impossible for anyone to beat STA but that possibility is always out there. I think there are a couple of teams that will give them a run for their money. I am a Rochester Lourdes graduate so I'm pulling for them. ...

Way to cherry pick stats....How about using Eau Claire Memorial? Oh forgot that didn't you? How about West lost to Owatonna and barely beat Faribault to end the regular season. One game is just a snapshot, nothing more. I'm not cherry picking. I'm picking a common opponent that both Mayo and Lourde...

BadgerBob is awfully quiet...... I was thinking the same thing PeterDenton. Haha. I bit my tongue earlier in the season on this message board because the discussions around "who was the best in Rochester" didn't make any sense to me. BadgerBob would always post a comment that didn't make ...

Lourdes is the best in Rochester

If there was any debate about who the best team in Rochester is, it was put to rest last night in the Section Final vs. Mankato West. Some have argued that Lourdes is the best and some have argued that Mayo is the best. It's pretty clear now. Mayo got badly beaten by Mankato West 7-3 at the end of t...

Final 6-1 Lourdes over West. I thought this would be a closer game. When I was at the game there wasn't a doubt in my mind who the better team was. It almost seemed like Lourdes was gracefully going into the corners and back checking with a means of conserving energy and they were still winning 90% ...

After two periods of play, Lourdes is on its way to another Section Championship. It was 3-0 after 2 periods and Lourdes was dominating. Shots were 20-10 after 2 in Lourdes favor. There were a couple of close call opportunities for Mankato West but it was more of Lourdes mishandling the puck than an...

I copied my comment from the Section 1A thread. I'm looking forward to tonight's game as well. I think it will be a very close game. I don't foresee either team coming out slow in the Section Final. Both teams will be ready to win. Both teams can score and seem to have one really strong line but I t...

OK I'll go ahead and say it here. This section is a complete embarassment to post season high school hockey in THE STATE of HOCKEY. Obviously this isn't a knock on the kids as they have no control over the section placements. That being said, who is responsible for the continuance of this debacle? ...

Welcome dad of "awesome, division 1 caliber goalie" I don't have any kids. Also, like I said, I've been to a couple of Rochester Lourdes games earlier this season and their goaltending was horrific with Ellingson. This new kid is the real deal. If anyone would have seen the game last nigh...

There's a new sheriff in town

If I eat my words come section playoff time then that is my fault but after watching Lourdes tonight I don't think anyone in Section 1A has a chance. They just beat Prior Lake which is a good AA team and even though the shots were lopsided it was more of a who had better opportunities. The goalie fo...

Rochester Lourdes

I have only been to a couple of Lourdes games this year because the ones that I saw during the early parts of the season didn't impress me. WOW! Now I think Lourdes is a team to take seriously in the state tournament. They finally have a goaltender that can back them up and keep them in any game. Th...

LHS played as good as they could I find it hard to believe that Lourdes played as good as they could. The Post Bulletin interviewed their head coach, Josh Spaniol, and he even stated that 21 out of 22 players didn't show up to play. He probably knows his players and their level of play but you were...

I think Mayo showed who is the best team in Rochester. LHS was the 5th best team in the Class A side. (Probably would have been the 6th best in the AA side) [/b] I disagree. I was at the championship game and Mayo didn't do anything to solidfy themselves as the best team in Rochester. Mayo got beat...

I'm surprised by Lourdes losing in the first round. Good for Northland Pines. I wasn't at the game because I figured it would be one sided but apparently not. Does anyone have any information from being at the game? I agree with the previous comment. Unless, some good to great players come up throug...

I like the idea of the A-bracket winner playing the AA-bracket winner. This would add an extra game to the tournament but would give bragging rights to the winner. It would be especially nice if it were Rochester Lourdes vs. Mayo / Century or JM as everyone would like to see the outcome of this. It ...

Lourdes will be playing in the Silver Division. Also, a local team wouldn't leave the Rochester Kiwanis Tournament if they felt the competition level was where it needed to be. The Kiwanis tournament is free for all teams in it. Why would a coach take their team to the Schwann's Cup where you have t...

The class A tourney is very weak this year, maybe Verona is decent, I see they're a top 10 Wisconsin team as of last week. If you beat Lourdes you don't come back has been a recent theme, Mason City and Memorial 2 of the last 3 years which is a shame. Agreed, class A is very weak. It's dissapointin...

After following scores up until this point and watching Rochester Lourdes vs. Northfield last night, here is my take on Section 1-A. I wasn't impressed with Rochester Lourdes at all. They lack size, depth and patience. They are a very fast team and can beat almost anyone to the puck but they make a ...

You are telling us. If the kids lose half their games every year they aren't not going to try and get better because you are on the A team? Chalktalk - It depends on the child's motivation, personality, etc. It depends how the kids was raised. I would think that most kids don't like to lose, but I ...

RYHA has not had a North/South team for 10 years. Was too watered down then and 75% of the players were north and 25%. So the bottom north kids had to play with the south kids. Was a disaster. RYHA has had the top 15 skaters on 1 A teams for 10 years. Then 1 or 2 A2 teams. Then B1's B2's and C's. W...

I agree Roch has declined over the past 10 years. Let me make sure I understand what you are saying. Rochester hockey is declining because kids are playing up at levels that they can't compete? So they must be getting beat by a large number night in and night out? So you think some kids playing on ...

This debate is pointless in the end because Section 1-A or AA will get manhandled at state. It's happened year after year. Whether it's Rochester Lourdes or Lakeville representing Section 1, they always bow out early at state. Rochester hockey has declined over the past 10 years. Everything is too w...
