tough road for prowlers

Having not won a section 8 title since 1961 they don't know what it takes to get to the next level., players and coaches alike. For this reason I would have to give the edge to Warroad, even at the Ralph.

The Moorhead posters are overly optimistic. I find it interesting that the only poster that seems to have analyzed the game right is from Roseau.

spuds #1

I'd like to say it's so but it ain't. It would be unfair to say the cupboard is bare, but theres not a great deal in it. They will have some good games and some not so good and they stand a good chance of being Section 8 champs, but you will see in the Christmas tourney that this is not a top 5 or e...

Hopeless Program

If Bemidji kids are leaving for junior hockey it must be for JR. B., hardly a substitute for staying at home. The Bemidji parents blamed John Wanberg, ran him off hired two young co-coaches who were in over their heads and now they are blaming them. What they really need to do there is run off a bun...

"The Structure"

If you want a world class education on a beautiful campus playing competitive hockey in a solid D-III program this is a wonderful choice. Trust me driving 30 mins. one to practice in St. Cloud is a drawback not a plus, and playing to smallish D-III crowds in a cavernous fairgrounds coloseum is not t...

Dreamin Prowler

As much as I would like to see the Prowlers go to state you are getting the cart before the horse. After 40 years and no state tourney trips if you have learned anything it should be humility. Next January 15 if you are 10-2 have beaten Warroad and other contenders then you can start dreaming not ta...

Another Anniversary

This year marks the forty years (1965) since the last time the Prowlers advanced to state. That year they went as Region (now section) champs. In those days there were only seven hockey regions so the runner-ups from regions seven and eight would play for the region three title. I believe TRF beat D...

What a Shame

Roseau to ST Cloud approx 275 mi. Moorhead to St. Cloud approx. 175 mi. and the game will be played on a Thursday nite denying hordes of fans from both communities a chance to see the game. There has to be a better way. Unlike private business the Section 8 committee is not held accountable and ther...

Some things never change

For Warroad to become part of an Iron Range hockey production is only so typical of the lenghts they will go to promote themselves with little or no thought given to what it looks like to anyone else. How could the promoters of this series get talked into this. This unfair intrusion could spell the ...

Bad situation

I'm sure it's the least of their problems, but these transfers forget, is what an uncomfortable position they but their new coaches, schools, and communities in. Moorhead, and I assume/hope other top programs do not encourage transfers and would in fact discourage them if they could, but open enroll...

Moorhead dropped Fergus and replaced them with Bloomington Jefferson. Not a bad trade I would think.

moorhead

I agree. This is not to mention that their bantam A team just won both Bantam A state tournaments. There is several excellent players on that team that I could foresee making the Jump to Varsity and fitting in nicely.

Average at Best

Hittle was an average goaltender who struggled thru the season while playing just under 50% of his teams games. Played well in the championship game although he didn't face a ton of high quality shots. Must shoulder a good share of the responsibility for a near disaster in the first game. Will be ha...

First off let me just add Bertuzzi = Busch League. That guy, despite his skill, is a idiot. The league needs to punish this guy and punish him seriously. Anyone who has played hockey and ever wanted to go after someone knows that, you don't do it that way. That is busch league and as far as i'm conc...

"lil' Ralph

I agree with the notion that the section finals should be moved to the lil' ralph, at least for a couple years to see how it goes. St. Cloud is a good rink but just hasn't been getting the crowds to make the atmosphere worth the drive. Even with 3500 people at the moorhead game, the size of the rink...

Warroad standouts

Let's be realistic here. You've just listed nine players off the Warroad roster as potential tournament stars. If this was true they should have beaten both Moorhead and Edina 10-0 during the regular season and LOW 20-0 in the sections. Seems like some people up there are legends in their own minds....

Ditto to everything you just said. Theres a chance the building could be a tad to small to hold the AA final especially if droves of A fans showed up, but maybe not. At any rate there is no question the A tourney should be held there permanently for all the above-mentioned reasons. Section 8A hockey...

Definition

Soft goals are not the fault of team defense of individual defensemen. They are goals given up on shots that should have been stopped routinely. Goaltenders need to take responsibility for their mistakes also. Soft goals by definition are no one elses fault but the invidual goaltender.
