this has no bearing on the discussion but after reading some of the posts, it might somehow fit. Fall 2008 Elite II tryouts and practice for the south team were in Kasson outside of Rochester. People came from all over southern minnesota: Redwing, Farabault, Mankato, Owatona, New Ulm, Marshal, Redwo...

do the players tryout in their home area or are they asked to tryout in a foreign area. or do they not tryout at all.
a third or the players on the south team are from somewhere else

that seems like a lot

if your going to allow "Guido" expect other similar remarks.
there is something of an elitist tone to this thread that is out or proportion to the final score. is Minnesota hockey suffering from low self esteem

Our son played with Wagoner a year or two ago and he is a good player and a pretty nice kid. The rules were there before that's true but should they be? We're still America home of the brave and many think we should be able to go after other options and if they dont work out turn around and go home....

if you want to use real numbers which pertain to your own circumstance, call your high school and ask them. they can also give you a print out with the birth date and grade point avg of each grade. a student here doing an article for the school newspaper did three three years ago. 25% delayed kinder...

i've read through "the Minnesota School Readiness Study". We've lived in the same rural community in minnesota for a long time and it may be that our community is out of step with the rest of the state. But here most with a summer birthday are held back. (25 % of the high school could be i...

i haven't heard of any real problems with coaches in D4 but apparently someone has. district 4 is a very small district. this makes it an easy job for a few activist parents/individuals to make changes that might not fly in a bigger district with more of a hockey pedigree. the Select 15 process may ...

its not just hockey

if you held your child back, he has an advantage over his classmates in every area. his social skills, speech, vocab, math skills, size and coordination will all be more advanced at 6 then at 5. All of us were more advanced at 6 than 5. These advantages diminish over time. And by the time high schoo...

Puckstopper81 "Minnesota Nice" is a phrase people use to describe Minnesotans style. It doesn't really mean that Minnesotans are nicer than anyone else. I've been rude and insensitive since birth and have fit right in. We have had trouble adjusting to the politics. Its quiet and often behi...
