Re: Skate Sharpening in Bloomington

With Westwood Sports Bloomington location moving into the Apple Valley location where is the best place in Bloomington to get skates sharpened. Pierce Skate and Ski, HockeyGiant, Total Hockey in Edina or BIG Hat Trick at Richie. Never a line. Otherwise go to Westie. BIG is OK in a pinch and is a go...

Re: combined associations

I for one think its time again to raise the debate about combining programs in Bloomington - The girls H.S. program did it this season. Why not the boys? There is too much pride in East Bloomington to let it go right now. These families are the skaters and students that were a part of a terrific la...

PWC level attrition

Does anyone else here have any experience when a PWC team initially rosters 14 skaters and a goalie, then has two skaters and a goalie quit? There are higher level teams in the association that have two goalies - can the association reassign a goalie down? (Not that any of these goalies or their fam...

Can you argue otherwise? How is it possible for a kid (or anyone for that matter) regularly playing/practicing with other highly skilled players to not improve? Last year I was lucky enough to coach a Sq C team in D6. I am not the best skater in the world. These kids had passion for the game, but n...

we had a 2nd yr skater make the A squad despite suffering injury during fall sports. the skater is out until december at least. and with the type of injury, I'd be surprised if he was allowed game speed contact by the first of the year. he wasnt even on the A pool list until cuts were made and roste...

Re: Northern Educate Hockey Academy

I could see for motivated Bantam kids..... but it looks like they're offering it for all age levels. Opinions? As a parent of a Bantam who has struggled in school, at face value this is a very attractive option- plenty of icetime, immersed with peers who have the same class load (albiet onl...

The old rink at Parade.

I was away from the state for a while and when I came back I got to skate there after a long time.

This was where I learned to skate and I could see my father in the stands.

He is there even now.

That would be awesome, but since Anoka's two sheets are just down the road, Andover's is just past Anoka's and Schwannie is not that much further and the new CR sheets should be up soon, I'd doubt it.

Andover is on here 2x. Just think how good they'd be if they combined a team from BOTH of their ranked Bantam A squads... The Andover Community Center would implode from all the awesome! The resulting shockwave would likely tear down Cook Arena and put a huge crack in rinks one through six and eigh...

I absolutely hate the checks where the skaters either lead with their elbow or leave their skates. I suspect the ongoing quality of checking skill of the skaters is so poor across the board (both on the giving and receiving ends), that if the refs followed the letter of the law, there would be penal...
