Section 6A Outlook- Fergus Falls had a great week holiday break winning their holiday classic and avenging their previous loss to ranked Detroit Lakes. Wadena Deer Creek topped the Otters week when they went on the road and beat a Flyers team for the first time in 19 years. Northern Lakes went .500 getting soundly beat by the Flyers before taking care of the Becker Big Lake. Alexandria picked up its first win of the year just before the New Year and looks to slowly get back on track now. Morris/Benson got the big second win of the series vs Prairie Centre to move past them for now but they play the rubber match game for who gets the better seed this week. Willmar took the holidays off and was idle and Breckenridge/Wahpeton still is in search of their first win and unfortunately never recorded a win the year of 2022.

Not yet it Alex, but it is supposed to start later this afternoon. Not sure what it is like down by Chisago Lakes, but the metro area is supposed to get it worse than us.

Edit: Chisago Lakes is dismissing school early with no evening activities.

Section 6A Outlook- Fergus Falls had a good trip up north and split with two good Section 8A teams. Wadena Deer Creek got beat by ranked Detroit Lakes but did rebound to beat Lake of the Woods. Northern Lakes lost to a good Thief River Falls team on the road. Alexandria picked up two more losses to continue a disastrous year. Morris/Benson got the big road win over a decent Luverne squad to stay hot. Willmar & Breckenridge/Wahpeton both got shut out on the week and Prairie Centre didnt even play due to weather.

Alexandria still has two games with Fergus Falls they will need to split or Sweep if they get swept they are the 4 seed, WDC need to sweep Northern Lakes or split and win the last meeting or knock off Fergus, Alexandria refused to play WDC which is too bad. Top 4 should be interesting need more games to know order.

Section 6A Outlook- Fergus Falls won two more games in non 6A action. Wadena Deer Creek did not play and was idle. Northern Lakes lost two more games to non 6A teams. Alexandria picked up a win and tie vs AA CLC teams the Cards are getting better. Morris/Benson got routed by River Lakes in the game this week. Prairie Centre picked up a 6A head to head win over & Breckenridge/Wahpeton. Willmar had a rough week losing three games this week.

I like the idea... But Its an 8 team coaches vote.

They only played once and Nothern Lakes won that game over Alex

Also Alex refused to play WDC and doesn't play many Section teams....

If Northern Lakes sweeps WDC I think they they will be seeded over Cards.

I will be curious what happens in this coaches vote.... The bad record and not playing most teams in Section 6A could actually have the Cards at a 4 seed it wont matter to them they still can win this section wherever they land.

The Fergus Falls vs Alex this week should a good indicator where teams are at. I think best two teams are Otters and Cards but I am not sure that is how they will be seeded.... Need a few more games to get a better read but I totally get what you are saying elliott

Alex has the toughest schedule in the sections and a loss is a loss but the have had good games in those losses.

It will be interesting how the coaches vote.

The MN State High School League website has the 6A Semifinals being played at the higher seed instead of at the MAC this year on Saturday February 25th. Maybe they just haven’t updated the bracket yet, but was curious if anyone has any info on that. I know historically the semifinals have always been at the MAC, except for 2021.

WOW that would be big 6A Semis at the Mac on Saturday are a Class A Tradition ... Would make the #1 and #2 seed much more important if true.

I don't know who Alex takes off the schedule. They have their CLC schedule they have to play and then are playing teams they usually play nonconference.

Most nonconference series are two year contracts, so yes, this year Wadena vs Alex would probably be a good one. But last year, or next year?
