Weird. Alex goaltending was shaky early in the year but seemed to have improved greatly of late. I’m inclined to consider several games this week as basically throwaway aberration results.

Hill 3
Mahtomedi 2

OT - Final

Anytime you can get 3 past Dardis you’ll take it. Hill scores with a few seconds left in the game to send it to OT

As others have mentioned, Hill is breaking in a new starting goaltender. We’ll see how this goes, but so far Jack Erickson has played well against a couple of decent single A teams.

Godbout with another goal. He’s having a great year. Where would Hill be without him this year?
The City of Hill Murray is beautiful this time of year

Apple Valley 3
Eastview 0

I get that it's a crosstown rivalry but that is just a terrible loss for Eastview.

Rogers won 5-4. To say that Maple Grove is an underperforming mess of a team is an understatement. Seniors won Bantam AA championship as 9th graders. Juniors were favorites to win state tourney before it was cancelled because of COVID. Sophomores lost state championship game in OT last year to Wayzata. I’d be surprised, the way they are playing, if MG even makes state tourney this year. Hard decisions about high school program direction need to be considered in off season. Youth program sends nothing but talent to high school team. What’s wrong?
From an outsider's perspective, going into this season I thought this would be a "gap year" for Maple Grove. Thought they would be top-10 but not necessarily top-3. It feels like most of their high-enders are still underclassmen, and they should be loaded next year. You seem to be more plugged into the program than I am, though.

The senior class won Bantam AA title as freshmen, with of course some of the current juniors (a very strong group) on team as 8th graders. The record and recent trend line this year are inexcusable. If things don’t turn around fast, the coach—who already has critics—is in very hot water. Program risks losing high end talent to greener pastures if course correction isn’t made.
