Man, this is shaping up to be a great tourney. Strongest field I can remember in a long time.

Re: Official State seedings
A little surprised, but I think you can make an argument for how it went:
Personally, I think Hill Murray got the shortest end of the random draw. Wayzata will be a nasty quarterfinal game.

I'm surprised an undefeated team was 3rd. But so be it. And I don't think there are any easy quarterfinals this year. It is an impressive field.Doc Holliday wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 10:25 am A little surprised, but I think you can make an argument for how it went:

If HM is good enough to get to the finals, I will be happy to only have to play one of Maple Grove or Eden Prairie.
New Conspiracy Theory: Did the MSHSL put Andover and Maple Grove together so it would be impossible for one of them to not finally win a first round game?
Re: Official State seedings
1 Hermantown
2 Gentry
3 Thief River Falls
4 Little Falls
5 Delano
6 Litchfield
7 Northern Lakes
8 Dodge County
At least Lamb gets a chance a big tv audience
Class A seedings have been a joke for years, just do away with them.

I am shocked how high Thief River Falls got seeded considering they were beaten in the semi-finals at Region. Strange!
We've got 7 yes we do, we've got 7, how about you!

Maple Grove at 4 is ridiculous.

Re: Official State seedings
Regarding Hill's draw, I was assuming the Pioneers would be seeded. I also assumed LS, MG & EP would be seeded, and probably Andover in that 5th seed. As I thought about opponents, I was hoping for Moorhead or Andover and looking to avoid Wayzata & STA. STA was the team I wanted Hill to avoid most. STA seems to have figured out Hill's D this year.Doc Holliday wrote: ↑Fri Mar 26, 2021 10:25 am A little surprised, but I think you can make an argument for how it went:

I think Wayzata is a tough-ish draw. Hill played them pretty evenly earlier in the year. They were up 2-0 and on the powerplay - gave the Trojans a shorty before sealing it with an empty netter. Much like the first game this year between the two, I expect a low scoring affair. I don't see Wayzata scoring more than 2 goals, maybe 3.
Whether Hill loses in the quarterfinals, semifinals or championship game...it's still a loss at State. And Hill should have championship asperations this year. So wherever you lose is no good! If Hill is good enough to get by Wayzata, I'm confident in either semifinal match up, Moorhead or LS.
The City of Hill Murray is beautiful this time of year

Re: Official State seedings
I believe Hill gave up 20 goals this year, 9 of them to STA.
So I want to avoid EP, and to a slightly lesser extent, STA. I'll take our chances against MG and LVS, given their relative lack of playoff experience and wily veterans Lex and his staff behind Hill's bench.
But this is anyone's tournament.

I guess this is one of those years that the seedings don't matter as much. All the teams are very good and the top teams are all pretty interchangeable. That said, Maple Grove is SCARY. Odd scheduling this year plays into it obviously. We'll see in a few days how scary MG is against the big boys.

Re: Official State seedings
Wayzata strikes me as having higher asperations than their talent pool IMO. If it's close, I like their chances.
I can splash in the rink puddles!
