Re: Jackson Blake
He scored 19 goals in HSEL so OTC is right.
He will join the varsity game squad in Feb and make all tourney team at the X.
Maybe next guest on YHH podcast -we can get to the bottom of this once and for all.

Re: Jackson Blake
The question was relative to the Steel’s comment and the USHL being an option. No chance he’s ready for that and it just adds more lunacy to the situation.O-townClown wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 4:29 pmyesSponge Puck wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 4:17 pm is Jackson Blake ready to play at your level at 5'2 and a buck 20?
YHH is treating it like the Lindros affair. Ridiculous.
Re: Jackson Blake
all the more reason for any player to opt out of mn high school hockey.... any league that puts restrictions on a person that wants to play and compete is a league that should be disbanded.
if a kid wants to play in mn high school league he/she should be able to do so.
it is time to get rid of the high school league and go club teams. more sponsors, less cost to parents, more games, higher quality.. high school can be for jv, which is what the league deserves because it is jv..

Cigar. Please. No rules? You want to play, sure pick your school each year. The Blakes should know the rules before transferring around. They probably assumed they could skirt the rules (for good reason) but it didn’t work this time. As for him playing in the U at his size, not a chance.

Re: Jackson Blake
Why did JB go to Shuttuck in the first place?
Kinda reminds me of Owen B. from Owatonna who left for Shattuck, Owatonna didnt want him back after he didnt make HSEL or U18 Prep-
Dubuque cut him- went to Minot-
JB could play for Magicians?, Blizzard? that would be an option??

Re: Jackson Blake
What on Gods Green Earth are you talking about? He wanted to try out Shattuck because it’s Shattuck. Ever heard of Sydney Crosby? Or Jonathon Toews? Or Derek’s Stepan? It didn’t work out for JB (for whatever reason) and he returned to EP. He’s committed to his NHL DADS alma matter, North Dakota. How does JB’s situation have any correlation to some obscure player from Owatonna that 99% of us have never heard of? Please get a clue before you start dropping players names...especially with a negative connotation...jeezmuckandgrinder65 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:51 pm Why did JB go to Shuttuck in the first place?

I don't see it that way at all. So many guys are there for a short period of time and then go play somewhere else. Crosby, Brock Montpetit, Baumgardner, Bellows, and on and on and on and on. Some guys stay until graduation and others don't. It seems harsh to say it "didn't work out" for guys like Crosby who go on to do real well.

Re: Jackson Blake
Then you would have to get rid of Little League Baseball, Soccer, Basketball, Volleyball and every other league in the Country. They all have restrictions on players, for good reason. I’m not sure just letting everyone go “Willy Nilly” is the answer.cigar wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 6:34 pm all the more reason for any player to opt out of mn high school hockey.... any league that puts restrictions on a person that wants to play and compete is a league that should be disbanded.

Re: Jackson Blake
My point was JB didn’t finish the (part of) one school year when I stated “it didn’t work out” (that’s all I meant). I’d have no “big” problem if they didn’t let him play varsity until Jan 1st (like 9-10 games). But Jan 28th is ridiculous. Obviously it won’t kill him development wise to practice with EP’s varsity & play the JV games. But is it fair to EP’s JV opponents...to have to contend with a player who scored like 19 goals in the Elite League? The answer to that question is too obvious to require further elaborationO-townClown wrote: ↑Fri Dec 06, 2019 11:10 pmI don't see it that way at all. I would hope that most JV players would embrace that challenge, since the majority of them, at least on the JV teams EP is playing against, have aspirations to play varsity hockey and are the same age or older than Blake.hockey59 wrote: ↑Sat Dec 07, 2019 11:01 amMy point was JB didn’t finish the (part of) one school year when I stated “it didn’t work out” (that’s all I meant). Is it fair? OMG this group has gone buttery soft.
Did Team USA back down because they were playing the professional Russian Hockey players in 1980 and complain of unfairness?
Is life fair when the University you want to attend sends you a rejection notice, knowing you are fully prepared and qualified?
Gimme a break.....

Cigar...maybe change your handle to "fat joint"? what r u smoking? Been there done that...club teams are not the answer! Ha...less cost to the parents, what a joke! Left unchecked, old unemployable hockey players would overwhelm the state with soo many "elite" clubs ....your "higher quality argument" will be lost to talent dilution. Don't like it, you have options, but the vast majority realize the MN Hockey - Youth to High School has a good thing going. It's certainly not perfect but trust me...the grass isn't greener on the other side. Your "wild west" mentality will eventually be the destruction to this great game.
Re: Jackson Blake
If JB were asking my opinion, I would say "Focus on passing Algebra 1 or Algebra 2 for the bulk of January, and the 28th will be here before you know it!"
Yeah, but he ain't asking ...

With all of this hand wringing in regard to EP recruiting kids / transfers I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on Lakeville South.
You have 3 kids leave Farmington who are currently on the LS Bantam AA and 1 other kid who is a 9th grader who left Farmington for LS varsity. You also have a kid who was probably best player at B'ville transfer to LS and is also playing on LS BAA team.
That's 5 kids who just magically showed up on your doorstep.

Re: Jackson Blake
This has been going on for years with public schools. HS or Bantam coach brings kids to new school for 9th grade. Minnetonka, Lakeville North and now Lakeville South have been major players in this scheme.thefatcat wrote: ↑Mon Dec 16, 2019 10:09 am With all of this hand wringing in regard to EP recruiting kids / transfers I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on Lakeville South.
