Duluth Marshall (9-1-2) coming off a tie to Hermantown is traveling down to St Cloud this Saturday to play the Crusaders of Cathedral (9-1). Probably the #1 and #2 seed for section 2A.

Although anything can happen - the infamous underdog scenario - I am going to predict a Marshall victory of 3-1
SCC's forward Robert Durant is out - he's a strong force and a hard worker.

I agree with JL I look for 4-1 game. This will be a real test for Hess to see if he can again keep his emotions in check and not get too jacked up!

SCC didn't make a very strong case for the #2 seed with the loss to Denfeld before Christmas. They'll need to play well to get the W. I'll give DM the nod in this one, possibly an overtime game though.

The only reason SCC might have a chance is because they have home ice advantage. Either way Marshall will take this one.
HShockeywatcher it is likely the section #1 vs #3 not 1 vs 2.
I'll take Marshall by the score of 5-2

I really don't think that'd be the only reason for SCC's win. Although it would give Flaherty another excuse.
I've seen both teams play this year, SCC has superior Defense and a superior goalie. That could be another reason why they'd win...but you never know.

GB only if goalie plays under control are they superior!!!

haha, I guess we can take that as a valid point.
Will Behning be in nets for Marshall...he played at the game I went to. He's not bad, just not Hess.

Yeah, Behning will play in goal tomorrow, he comes up big in big games. Like the hermantown game last night, he played very well.

If Cathedral wins, though, this changes a lot for section 2A.
I may be wrong about the #2 or #3, but when it's all said and done, they're basically the same, they play easy games until they play each other, in which case they're in the same boat and the winner plays the #1 seed, unless there's an upset. Also, record wise, they are about even, and a win tomorrow would probably give Cathedral the #1 seed, not 2 or 3. So we'll all see how it pans out.
But I'm sorry.

DM will win 4-0... DM's offence is too good for St. Cloud's deffence. And DM's deffence is better then most people give them credit, they pretty much shut down Hermantowns offence last night...

actually it was the DM offence that shut down the Hawks
hard to mount any offence when you are being peppered with 50 shots in a game
i'll go with the toppers 5-1

Hopefully the ref will have thicker skin than the patsy Denfeld ref who totally took Cathedral out of its game with DD by sending their goalie to the box for 10 minutes. Not to excuse the goalie at all, because he should have considerable blame for his actions, but perhaps a firm warning or "talkin to" by the ref would have been in order.
This will be a very good game. SCC will need to watch its back check if this becomes an up and down the ice game. It's imperative for Hess to stay under control. If DM runs him, it'll be up to the SCC defense to lay them out, which they're perfectly cabable of doing.
It'll be interesting to see how DM handles the forechecking pressure by SCC. Costly turnovers could be a difference maker. This game very well could be decided by a power play goal. Therefore, both teams will need to play disciplined hockey.
My predicition: SCC 3, DM 2.

Bluegoose, can't blame the ref for putting a player in the box who simply took his complaining too far....nobody to blame on that but Hess.
The refs at the Mac do tend to favor their Crusaders, but I think Marshall will win. They are more effective in every aspect of their game than Cathedral right now. I look for Hess to be busier in net than his typical 10 shots, but I think he will keep his cool...his players have talked with him about it. I don't think he would melt down twice in such a short time span.
