All these boys can thank Mr McBain for the Michigan trip. Some are very overrated but you have to start some where. So go ahead and start the nitpicking. I got this off GopherPuckLive forum. Some are legit others are far off.one kid on this list didn't even make his Assc Bantam B1 team.



USHL Central Scouting” has updated their list of list of top USA '92s to now include Minnesota kids. They list the Minnesotans as “prep” players, but the large majority of these kids are still playing bantam hockey. The players that I could find that are playing varsity hockey are Adam Robson (freshman at Apple Valley), Max Smith (8th grader at Eastview), Ryan O’Shea (freshman at Eastview), Joe Rubbelke (freshman at Johnson), Brady Loew (8th grader at Rosemount), Christian Isackson (freshman at St. Thomas Academy), Matt Campbell (freshman at Mankato West) and Justin Faulk (freshman at St. Thomas Academy). Not sure how comprehensive this group is at this time. No players from some parts of the state listed yet. One name that seems to come up quite a bit that’s not here yet is Shane Ormdahl from Roseau.

Some interesting names listed. Nick Bjugstad is the nephew of former Gopher and North Star Scott Bjugstad. I would guess that he might be Mike Bjugstad’s son. Mike was also a nice forward during the great Irondale run in the early 70s. I’m thinking that Nick’s Blaine bantam teammate Taylor Richart is likely the son of Scott Richart who was also on those Irondale teams and was briefly at the “U”. Jacob Flynn is Ryan’s brother, he was discussed a little bit on the board once before when the Centennial little league team was on ESPN in a game they lost to go to the Little League World Series. I didn’t see the game, but Jacob was the pitcher and according to posters that were watching, he’s a very large kid for his age. Tyler and Curt Rau are the twin brothers of Colorado College forward Chad Rau.. I’m guessing that Joe Rubbelke might be the son of former great all-around Johnson athlete Jim Rubbelke, who was on the Gopher football team and also played J.V. hockey (one varsity game also). Zach Schroeder is the brother of Gopher recruit Jordan Schroeder.

Something does not make sense here, you are giving McBain credit? Tyler Richart was not chosed to attend the MI trip (though he should have) . How many other boys on that list were also not chosen for the MI trip. My guess is that this list comes from the Central Scouting representative in MN? That person certainly is not McBain.

Nope not him.

Seen as how the Advanced 15's hasn't happened for these guys yet, the only exposure they have had to someone that cares enough to make this list would have been if they made the trip or were invited to tryout for the trip. Seen as how the list resembles 99% of the kids that did go I think my statement is pretty much right on. All I am saying is some of them might not make the Advanced 15 list so the exposure they got from that experiance is because Mr McBain put that together. As for Tyler Richart I don't know him nor have I seen him play but sometimes what people think and what is real are 2 different things. He might have been asked to skate and turned them down for a number of reasons. I don't care if you are best friends with him you still might not get the truth.

On the flip side I don't think McBain is looking for a big hug and thank you anyways. I put that on there as refferance to the Michigan trip. Also if you don't think the Mn rep for USHL doesn't talk to McBain and ask his input you are wrong there also.

Pucknutz, do not make "Mr. McBain" sound so charitable on this event. He made lot's of dough. Let's see...how many players x $200- $250 for just the tryouts. How many hours of ice did these boys get at $160 per hour. How much was the fee if the kids made the two(2) teams? No, he does not want a hug, just your check.

Did I ever say he did not make any money? The rest of the country has Advanced 14's, we don't he saw an opportunity and used his connections with USA hockey to showcase some of our best players at this age. I hope he made a lot of money. He will always make a lot of money off of hockey and more power to him. I bet if you ask any of the players they got plenty of ice and more important EXPOSURE. Exposure to something they otherwise wouldn't have seen for a couple of years if at all. Based on the way the Advanced players are picked some of these kids won't get chosen. Thier names are out there and not because of anything you or others have done.

The USHL central scouting list is in fact put together by scouts in various parts of the country. Bernie McBain may have had some influence in getting the scouts to check into these players, but no influence in who was actually on the list. Player development from USA hockey also has a hand in who is looked at and who isn't. Some of these players have already been watched this season by the USHL scouts. If you read the scouting bureau info, it will explain why they are starting to look at players born in '92. It will also explain that players will be added to this list as the season progresses. By the time all is said and done, 90% of players born in '92 will be watched at least once. Also remember that if a player is watched and doesn't deserve to be on the list, that scout is also watching teammates of the same age that he may never have heard of, thus opening doors for other players. Any way you look at it, it's a good oppurtunity for all involved.

how come Brett Hebel isn't ranked on that list but kevin erickson is ranked on the 91 list.

It seems like every kid is listed at a different position then what they play...

Not all. I know the Merritt from GR was a defenseman but is now playing forward
