so we're all excited to see the results of the upcoming grg vs cloquet game... with cloquet being the team to beat grg is gonna have to be strong and play their best game of the season to get past thunder and her girls...should be a close match...?

I'm looking to the Lightning in a mild upset. I think they have too much offensive firepower. The defense played good this past weekend, as did both goalies. I am sure it will be a good matchup. Cloquet is hot and have won 3 straight. While the Lightning have done likewise, scoring 18 goals in the past three games. I'll say Lighting 4, Lumberjacks 3. Lunquist gets two for the Jacks and Arola scores two for the Lightning.

Bobby Bobby Bobby.....you ole sly one. Who should be in goal for GRG in your HONEST opinion.

In my honest opinion, Havel is the goalie for the future and should get a good amount of playing time the rest of the year. But Hammann has been here before and needs at least one shot in a big game. I believe she will get the chance tomorrow. And your thoughts please...

I'd like to see the Lightning win this one, but I don't know if I see it happening. Though they've recently stepped up their scoring, against a goalie like Thunder I'm not sure if it will be enough. I'll say Cloquet 3-2, at least 2 by Lundquist and a goal for Arola and a goal for Gallop.

as havel is a very good goalie, she is also unexperienced against shots and scoring opprotunities of the caliber that cloquet is all too good at. cloquet capitilizes on rebounds and havel leaves many
hammann stuggled considerably against the shots that edina and rooseville put on her, but i think her experience against cloquet could help the lightning.
thunder is a good goalie as well but is far from unbeatable, as we saw 17 seconds into section finals last year.
i feel it's going to be a very even game.

I would agree Hamman is deserving of the chance as the senior goalie. And she has played in big games in the past. Havel does have the expirece playing against stellar competition. I saw her play a few games this summer against some great AAA teams. She also was at Mankato Select 15's and faced Lundquist and Esse all week. SHe needs to pay her dues. SHould be a good game......hope I can go. If not keep the site updated.

Cloquet is one of the best coached teams in the state!

Bummer...wish they would have given Havel a shot at Cloquet. We know, they know, god knows, everyone knows how Hammann will measure up in the nets against them. Would have been fun to see Havel in there. Why wouldn't you want your younger goalie to test the waters against them when you may have to call upon her later in the season to go up against them. That way she would know what she's up against.

Anyone know how the GRG JV did?

There is another game in Cloquet I would assume. Maybe she would get a shot then...?

Thanks for the update. The more I think about who played in this game, ya Hammann should she is a senior, its her year. The new goalie has 3 more years to play these games. I guess I am just a little excited about this new goalie that GRG has, especially since I've heard some great things about her, want to see how she does.

You guys are right to be curious on these young players in GRG. In Cloquet we play people early to see if they can play at this level, then they can accumulate experience during the season so we don't end up in Feb. saying, "Your in, now save us"!

Is that becasue of numbers of girls in the program or skill? I agree, it better to see what you have now then later.

Hammann...85 save &, 3.6 GAA
Havel...80 save %, 3.0 GAA

Neither sets of numbers are too flattering.

Bottom line is that you should field the best 17 players you can! It's high school hockey!!! And BobLee, and as an outside observer on your goalie question, it's Havel!

Havel's numbers are deciving due to she played one period against Edina and faced 17 shots with not a lot of help. She's only had the one start against Bloominton Jefferson.

Bobby Lee......where did you get 80 shots for Havel? WIth only one start and one period not sure she had 80 yet.
