What do you guys predict about this game? I suspect it will be a barn burner due to the fact that they played each other in the championship game last season and DM lost. Hard feeling or what?

Box Score
1 2 3 OT F
0 3 1 0 4 STA
3 1 0 0 4 DM
Aaron Crandall decided not to play goalie first period, not sure if he just wanted to give the Hilltoppers a chance or what, but it was basically like not having a goalie 1st period. Then 2nd period STA started scoring and Crandall started playing. Then 3rd they brought it back. OT was tense the whole time, DM had so many breakaways they missed, STA had I think two where the goalie was on one side of the net that they just missed. Then with 2.5 seconds left there was an awesome fight.
All in all STA's future success will be in the hands of Crandall, solid team, but I could've done better blindfolded than he did 1st period. If he plays like he did 2nd and 3rd periods STA will do well this year. Really helped the Hilltoppers having the refs on their side. Not saying this because I'm an STA fan, but they called things on STA where a DM did the extra same thing and it wasn't called.
STA the better team if Crandall plays well. But the goalie is a huge part of the team, so sorry to say, but a lot of pressure rests of his shoulders; they have shown they can't do it with him sleeping between the pipes.

Marshall should have won. It comes down to this: 1, they can't handle pressure (none of marshall sports can) and 2, they GAVE UP.
Marshall had many more chances including a breakway by jack with 20 secs left. If there would have been another period though, St.thomas would have won. Good game!! Oh and i think st.thomas road off the goalie for the game. If it wasn't for him they would have lost.

Ummm, I don't know too much about the fight. Goalie covered up the puck, play stopped, then two people hit, then a bunch of people slowly started throwing punches. The goalie got a few hits in. Very aggressive the whole game and I could've really seen this coming.
Yes, I agree DM should've won with what happened, and in my mind everything they screwed up, the opponents' goalie not showing up for a period, and having the refs on their side for two periods really shows they are not the better team. I guess we'll see who is in a neutral ice on March 9th.

IT wasn;t much of a fight. just like 4 guys for each team in a cirle on the boards. the only people really going at it were gutch for marshall and some sta kid. i dont kno how you can say Sta was the better team when they give up 2 short handed goals. both by gutch. sure marshall missed a lot of breakaway and semi breakaway chances in OT. but both teams missed their chances to win the game. i think the score says it all. they are both evenly matched throughout

Exactly. This game reminded me of last years final. 3-1 becomes 3-3. I mean how many teams can blow games like Marshall. they almost blew it against breck yesterday. It is so sad to watch.
Oh, i heard Superior beat Breck. Superior showing some game. Everyone said they would be young but they tied cloquet and beat Breck. WOW

You are allowed to not agree, but I said twice why I thought what I do. All of first period was because of Crandall not playing. The goals weren't pretty at all, easy saves for anyone else in the game. If Crandall is playing STA is the better team. That's all. Not saying they deserve a win or anything, a goalie is a teammate and if he screws up so does the team, but saying if Crandall keeps getting better and plays well when they meet next STA should take it.

Don't me to be an a*s but Marshall played there backup. So they had a goalie out the whole game, not just the first period

Yeah WIllie is the backup but he is a good goalie. THere weren't really any pretty goals for either teams tonight. I dont remember all of the goals but the ones i do were kinda sloppy. Both goalies are good and should have been able to save them.

just a crazy question.. but why the heck would you not use ur starter for such a big game, especially between #1 and #2 in the state..

Not all of the goals were sloppy though...DM had some nice plays between Gutsch and Connolly...at least one resulting in a goal, but overall it was a great game and hopefully they will meet again in early March
