Well, who is going to take 3rd?

First and second are wrapped up.
Apple Valley 5 Minnetonka 4 in the 1st place game.

I say Burnsville vs Champlin Park for 3rd.
One goal game, could go either way.

Well, I'll have to agree that .....
The favorites have to be:
Apple Valley & Minnetonka
But, Burnsville & Champlin Park can't be too far behind though.
All the above are ranked top 20 teams.
Armstrong, Brooklyn Park, Mpls*Park, and the 95 Fire all have solid teams as well.
From what I have seen/heard Hastings, Jefferson, and Waterloo may have some trouble this weekend. I haven't heard anything about Roseville, so I can't even speculate about them.

This should be a very good Tournament. Obviously it is not quite on the level of the Eden Prairie Tourney this same weekend, but should be a high quality tourney none-the-less.

I also agree that Minnetonka plays Apple Valley for the Championship.

I think its Burnsville vs. the Fire for 3rd place

SPL Coach:

The Burnsville Tourney may not be as deep but they have some very top
end teams. Why is Apple Valley and Minnetonka not playing in the "First Test of the Best"? Eden Prairie will not have 2 of the top 5 teams in Minnesota.

The Eden Prairie Tournament director (Leddy) probably did want Minnetonka or Apple Valley in the tourney. No problem if they do not want more district 6 teams but they should not call it the "First Test of the Best". This EP group running the tournament has been letting average teams in over the past few years. They had their chance again this year but blew it again!

Tonka was invited to play, but that was after Burnsville asked for tonka to return at both the bantam and peewee levels.

I guess I was pretty close.
The Fire didn't win a game in the Pee Wee side.
The 96 Fire is demolishing everyone in the Squirt one.

Did something happen to Apple Valley?
I am really surprised that they were held to only 1 goal total in 2 games on Sunday. Injuries? Players Missing? Etc?
Or did Burnsville and Champlin just shut down their top players?
I know that both Champlin and Burnsville and very good goal tenders.
Did anyone see any of the Sunday PWA Games in B'ville?

I saw parts of both games...Apple Valley was just outplayed by Burnsville. Burnsville skated harder and faster and just took it to them.

I think the 3rd place loss was due to them still reeling from the loss to Burnsville. Sometimes teams that expect to make it to the championship game and don't just quit playing as hard as they should. Champlin Park also has some real studs on their team so it is not surprising that they beat them.
