What are the predictions for the Beavers this year. Many "experts" have them favored to win the CHA again. Any thoughts after their series vs Maine?

The CHA is Terrible so Bemidji will easily win, they have a very young team but they are always pretty tough and play well...Hey they did score 3 goals in one game vs main, the rodents could only muster up 1!

Well, they were 4-3 against the WCHA last season, so one can't knock them.

It'll be interesting to see if there is any movement towards the Beavers gaining acceptance into the WCHA. Word is that a new, much larger facility would be a pre-requisite.

I have heard that a new arena is the only way they will even get a chance and then there is no guarentee.

I believe BSU is submitting or preparing an application to the WCHA for presentation in January 2007 for entrance in ????? some future year.

Currently Bemdiji voters are looking at a referendum (vote is Nov 7) to extend the additional .005 sales tax for use to build an events center which would include an arena sufficient to meet the WCHA standards.

Beavers should have a very good season.
They should win the CHA and teh play-off.
I expect them tomake history this year by winning their first round NCAA game and perhaps the second game.
They have excellent goaltending, strong forwards, but relatively young defense. but as the season prgoresses Caoch Serratore and staff will have them playin like veterans.

Good early test comes in Mankato - I believe the weekend of Oct 27 & 28.

They play exhibition games this weekend with the U of Regina(?).

The Maine series came after only 2 or 3 days of on-ice practice. Game #2 ws much better and I would expect an even series if Maine came to Bemidji in January.

I had heard that the events center was suppose to include an arena but I had also heard that was not true. I had a disscussion with my boss about this the other day and he is convinced that this wouldn't make money. I told him not at first but in time it would. If the "Beaver Pond" "Den" "Lodge" were also included the place could be very lucrative? Elliot have you heard about any money that could be had for naming rights if it passes?

If it passes and moves forward naming rights will be avialble for somthing like $100,000 per year for a committment of ???? years.

But at this point there are unanswered questions with everyone just saiting to see how the vote goes.

There will definetly be an arena as that will give a solid tenet in BSU. BSU is working on a lease. And perhaps there will be 2 rinks with one being for practice and the John Glas going to serve as a different asset for BSU.

What happened to Layne Sedevie?

Layne is now the third goalie, if still around.
His early season has been disappointing, so Climey is #1.

I heard they were looking for someone from the student population to come in and help with practice. There are a couple fo capable goalies goin gto school that could provide some help in practice.

Am I late with this post? Shea Walters has verbally committed to Bemidji. Nice to see him get a chance at D1 hockey and stay local.

Don't be too high on the Beavers yet. They swept Mankato, but it is going to be a very, very, very, long season for the Mavericks. Mankato lost a lot in the off season, and they had very little to begin with. Mankato could be a dweller in the celler.

Bemidji residents passed teh sales tax issue to allow the process to continue for building an event center including 2 rinks.

BSU, I believe, will use this as a stepping stone in their presentation to the WCHA,

Yes, I know Mankato fairly well and the WCHA.
I watched the Mavs against SCSU and UND.
They have their problems but made a good run at the Souix, so I would not put them in the can yet.

And to go on the road and sweep, well that's what UND did and not in a dominating way. So, yes the sweep is something very positive for the Beavs.

Can the Beavers continue their dominance of Wayne State this weekend?

I see the Gophers managed a tie over the Mankato State Mavs on Friday and barely got the win on Saturday.

And, oh, yeah, The Beavs swept the Mavs!

The Beavers struggled Fri nite with scoring but still managed a sweep of Wayne State.

1 - 0
and 4 - 2 ( I think).
