Another big win for the Vikes in a game they weren't expected to win. Chester Taylor looked good again and TWill looked like the gamebreaker we expected when we drafted him. We do need to find a kick returner so that we don't have to put Mewelde & TWill back there and get injured. Keep the wins going.
(Btw, thanks for the win Chris Gamble)

Why the doubting? Yes, I know they are winning right now, but I would have said yes. With their D, I think they can win every game. That's the nice thing about the stellar D is they can be in every game. Yes, they need to pick up the O some, but that will come. They are never that far out of it cuz their D is great. I'm liking the new style and Childress is a winner

Empire, the reason I was doubting was because Seattle has been a tough environment for anyone to win in (they hadn't lost there since December 2004) and the Vikings offense hadn't looked real good on the road. The Vikes did catch a couple of breaks with Hasselbeck getting hurt and the defensive TD in the end zone but they did play a really good game. I think one of the keys was the way they came back after giving up that early TD pass, I've seen a lot of teams just crumble after something like that.
You're right, with the defense they have right now they'll be in any game. It's amazing the transformation this team has made, this is the best Vikings defense I've seen since the '80s in the glory years of Doleman and Millard.
There are a few little things that stand out this year. It seems like almost every red flag Childress throws out results in the call going his way, whereas with Tice it seemed like he always lost his timeout. And the gadget plays have worked, they've picked the perfect time to run them and they've been flawlessly executed.

The Vikings have started the year 4-2 or better many times in the Post Bud Grant era. This year's 4-2 team seems quite a bit different from the most recent editions. Yesterday's win I did not see coming. This may be the most unlikely Viking road win since a Sean Salisbury led team went into Denver in December '93 to knock off the Broncos.
I'm not buying my blond Viking pigtails or a jersey of the running back who rumbled for around 500 feet yesterday quite yet. Recent history predicts that it's only a matter of time before a failed test, suspension, arrest, or some unimaginable event leads to distractions, mutiny, and losses.
Hope I continue to be wrong.

They look like a football team.
They have caught a few breaks with Smith being out in the Carolina game and that ill advised lateral. Yesterday, it was nice that Alexander wasnt there and the game definitly was over when SEA lost their QB on a fluke injury.
But thats OK. Speaking of Bud, he used to win games like that all the time. Play well, dont screw up, let the other guy make the mistake.
The O Line is looking better. The passing game has got a ways to go. Johnson is above average at best and the WRs drop the ball way too much. But no INTs.
They could win 10 and get in the playoffs. Once that happens who knows because as of last Monday night, there is no dominant team in the NFC.
Tice was a terribe coach. Terrible. His teams looked poorly coached.
This team doesnt.

Yeah, you can play the what if's all day long...
What if Greenway wasn't hurt? jWhat if KoRo wasn't stupid? What if Randy was still here... etc.
Alexander was hurt and MattH got hurt, that's part of the game. We kept their replacements in check and won the game. End of story.

Injuries are part of the game. The Vikes may not have had anyone the likes of Alexander or Smith hurt, but Erasmus James, Tank Williams, and Chad Greenway have all been lost for the year. That's 2 starters and a 1st round pick that was expected to play a significant role in the defensive gameplan. Throw on top of that Taylor and Williamson got concussions in yesterday's game, leaving us with Marcus Robinson and Billy McMullen. The team found a way to get it done, and this defense is for real. The schedule isn't anything that can't be handled from here on out. While it appears the division may be out of reach with the Bears on top, a wild card is certainly a reasonable benchmark for this team.
I am a believer

really???
see Twins and Tigers in mid June
I agree that injuries are part of the game and all that but if you are evaluating the Vikings so far and where you think they will go,you have to consider that they did beat 2 top teams when thay were less than full strength and missing key payers.
You can say " yah but we lost James ect.' but how would we do if we lost Brad Johnson? Pretty scarey thought.
Lets see how they do vs NE on Monday night. I was impressed with how they played da Bears here and Carolina too. If they play the Pats tough and /or win, they may have somethin goin.

Well our precious purple got taken out back to the woodshed and taught a lesson.
I have said in other threads how the NFL has gotten to be like all star wrestling with a real lack of professionalism on and off the filed.
That does not apply to the Patriots.
The second and third plays of the game were a perfect example. On the second play, the Vikings stuffed NE with a 4 yard loss. #24 of the Vikings did a dance and acted like a moron after the play.
His dancing didnt last too long because on the next play Brady burned them and him for about 40 yards. Maybe he was still dancing.
All night long NE made play after play. No dancing from them. Maroney returned that kickoff, which was a dagger to the Viking comeback hopes, and didnt do any dance.
When are head coaches in the NFL going to figure out why NE won 3 trophys in 4 years? What will it take? How long do you think TO would last with NE?
Brad Childress and his team got schooled last night. I wonder if they will learn anything form it.

No question the Vikes got smoked yesterday, but I saw some extraneous garbage from the Pats too. What about the play in the 3rd quarter when a Patriot wide receiver made a nice catch and run and after he was tackled, he got up and hurled the ball the width of the field. That was classy? And near the end of the game, the Pats got a 15 yard taunting penalty after giving up a sack and a fumble, who taunts after a play like that?
What was classy was the way they surgically destroyed the Vikings defense. Brady was phenomenal and the play calling, when the Vikes would bring the rush they'd get burned by the screen and when they stayed back, Brady picked them apart. And Maroney ran through them like a dreadlocked Walter Payton.
