I assume it is quite common for HS teams to provide Helmet/Gloves/Breezers(Pants).

Anyone know of any HS Girls or Boys teams that provide anything beyond this?

We're supplying Rbk shin/shoulder/elbow pads this year as well, and there was much discussion about this NOT being common. I guess I've never really asked other teams/coaches though - so I'm just curious...

We also have worked out stick & skate "team" deals historically, but the kids pay for these if they want them.

Our HS teams do not pay for or supply a single thing.

I have heard of northern teams supplying sticks for their players. I have only heard this for boys not girls though.

It always looks nice when a team has all of the same outer gear (helmet, gloves and pants).

My opinion a High School Hockey Team should provide the following equipment: game jersey, practice jersey, socks, breezers (pants) and gloves.

The helmet should be the responsibility of the parents to purchase the best available to protect their child but the color should be consistent with team colors (black, white, other) unless the school would purchase the best available on an annual basis. Helmets should not be recycled to be used by next years team members.

Other equipment should be available if needed by the player: elbow pads, shoulder pads, shin pads. A skin rash is still common and these items are more susceptible to the transfer of germs. Most players have equipment preferences for fit, feel and comfort and should be left up to the individual player.

To my knowledge I have never heard of sticks being provided to the team members. With the cost of composite sticks this should also be left to the player and their family based on individual preference.

Our school supplies nothing. Our girls (parents) even pay for ice time. All our school covers is coaches salary and transportation.

I'll bet that SWHcokeyGuy's team is a Co-op team. Am I right?

Yes we are a co-op team, but there is only one girl from another community and even when we were NOT a co-op team it was the same.

Also, yes, that goes for the boys too.

Its a long story, but the local hockey board "gave away the farm" many many years ago when they worked with the local school district into going Minnesota High School Hockey rather than staying Junior Gold.[/quote]

What does the Football team get? Nothing as well? Past startup agreement or not, there has to be equality among sports and genders.
