Congratulations & Memories, 2005

Enough of the hating. Why don't people list their greatest memories of 2005.

I would personally like to congratulate all varsity players in the state of MN that will be graduating this year. You truly have played in one of the most excited, fun leagues. This will be something that you will remember for the rest of your life. While most of you may not be playing in the future, at least you made many friends and creating memories along the way, and that is all that really matters. Remember, there are thousands of other kids who never got the opportunities that you did, so I hope you enjoyed them while they last and good luck in the future.

With that please list your favorite memories (games, goals, players, moments, sportsmanship, etc.) of 2005. Because beyond the competition, the coaches of the tournament said it best...."it's about the kids." While we are here all the time bickering about dumb topics, remember it really is all about the kids and them growing up into men through their high school experiences.

Gopher10, thanks for making this thread. Definitely a good topic.

My favorite game moments-

As a Jefferson fan, my favorite Jaguars game was the section final against EP. The way they dominated that game to return to state was fun to watch.

The best game of the year- At least the best game I saw, I am sure many will agree, was the Class A final. Warroad and Totino both played a great game and you could see that they left their hearts on the ice. An instant classic.

Players-This obviously wasn't my favorite moment for a player, but I think the way people reached out to Luke Green and the Austin community was great to see. I once again wish him the best as he is in my prayers.

Another moment, WBL losing yet another first round game. Why do I bring this up? Simply because WBL had it this year to go all the way, and they once again blew it, falling into the hands of Duluth East.

Chris Sall and Alex Kangas putting on a clinic in the nets!

Best game i saw in person this year was Moorhead vs Hibbing when the Hibbing goalie stood on his head to keep it close and then Hibbing missing a wide open net on a 6 on 4 in the closing seconds of the game. Also the 7AA final the kid for east scoring in overtime that scored his first ever varsity goal

Only saw two games this year, AHA v Tartan and the championship, so I dont have much to go from, but seeing AHA come flying out of the gates and score two quick ones was awesome. I had a great feeling from then on. Hopefully I can come back next year and watch some more great hockey, fun season everyone!
Go Buffs

My favorite memory:

Being at state as a whole- watching the hockey games, getting up EARLY in the morning to go wait in line for tickets. Starting cheers...having section 206 cheer with us again! 206 were schools from the cities, and other schools that come and watch. AHA you couldnt have had cheer wars with them because NO ONE COULD HEAR YOU!! Anywho: state was great and was my favorite memory of 05'

You sure heard us when the buzzer went off and your student section looked like they just saw a UFO flew through the building. I change my favorite memory, watching the Moorhead student section lose, not the players cause they were darn good.
________________________________________________________________

Once in a while you get shown the light, in the strangest of places if you look at it right

My favorite memory as a Jefferson fan was during EP section finals as well. The Jags dominated the whole game and EP came in like they owned the place, so when we shut em down it was great. My other favorite game was the Moorhead vs. Jefferson game, even though we lost it was great to see all the fans that drove 4 hours just to watch their team. The Moorhead fans were getting pretty ticked off because none of us would sit down. Overall, making it to state was a great memory too even though jefferson didnt win, it was a great experience.

Josh Brodeen stepping out of the penalty box, getting the puck, and putting it in the net at the lake of the woods game, definately a favorite.

also can't forget when East Grand came to warroad and we got 3 goals in about a minute (literally.)

It's sad to see the season already over, but it certainly was a great year. One of my best memories was finally seeing Moorhead beat Centennial. Best game I attended all year Warroad Vs. Totino Championship game I don't think I even need any words to describe it.
Worst Memory watching my spuds fall again in the championship. One of these years it has to happen, Right?
All in all a great year and Congrats to AHA they played great when it counted. And to Warroad no way better to cap off an undefeated season then a Championship trophy to bring home, we almost made it a section 8 sweep.

I must say they're were alot of memories this year for me but maybe my favorite was seeing how Thiele steped it up against Moorhead makeing 39 saves on way to leading Warroad to a tie with the spuds. That was the begaining to what was a great finish for him. Also seeing Oshie lay out for the puck and makeing a perfect pass to Marvin for the title winning goal, Oshie is very skilled but showing how much heart he has and will to win was something to remember too!
