i find it hard to believe that there weren't any ER players making the 16's, i saw the tryout and some of the tourney for the 16's and at least a couple of them were huge standouts for the team

on a seperate note, does anyone know how much of a factor the tourney finish plays in it? is it run like all-conference in that the better finish = a certain # of spots?

In 17's I thought it was very unusual that section 8 had more players make it then section 4 did. Section 4 got second and section 8 was in the last plasce game, even both goalies for section 8 made it. Also there were quite a few players who didn't even play in the tourney who made the 51.

1A-1AA 6 (5 Shattuck players Alex North, Justin Milo, Mike Gergen, Taylor Chorney, Zach Harrison not present they were at the national tournament where they took 2nd place)
2A-3AA 6
3A-2AA 7
4A-4AA 6
5A-5AA 7
6A-6AA 8 (Chad Rau and Ryan Thang not present)
7A-7AA 6
8A-8AA 8 (Tyler Johnson not present)

10 of these players did not make it to the Fesitival as 16's.
(there were 51 new faces from last year).

The only new face that stood out was Tony Lucia because he was stylin some maroon and gold gloves with his blue helmet and blue breezers.

I dont think its very fair for people to make the final 51 when they didn't try out for there team or play in the tournament. That needs to be changed. For people to put time and money into this and not get picked because they had people already picked that didn't do anything, that is bogus.

You guys have to take into consideration that politics takes a huge role in these kind of things. Its kind of sad but its the truth.

Actually, three extra players were added - it's a Final 54, if you will - to make up for the fact that the Shattuck players were seeded in automatically. Really, I think it was a mistake in scheduling that my guess is will be corrected next year.

And it's not as if Rau and Thang didn't do anything - they were on the team that went to the national 16 tourney last year and obviously would have been Final 51 picks. They both tried out for their section teams and had previous commitments on the festival weekend. They asked for and received exceptions and were seeded into the Final 51.

i am not from shattuck at all....but those kids do desirve to be there...they tryed out for the 17's but had their national tournament and those 5 kids are as good as any that were there...i know that 3 of them wouldve been the best players in the 17's tournament

Must be a typo. It'll make some kid happy when the error is realized and they add an extra kid to the roster.

In an earlier post, someone asked about the Elk River kids at the 16 level. I was actually disappointed by their play. Which of them did you think stood out? Just curious...I expected a better showing from Peterson.

The seventeen forwards are staked with talent that is a group to watch lets just hope the goalies can keep up because the d don't seem great except for a select 5 where does cook the otheh goalie to the left of his name from

doth is right behind stalock as the top 17 goalie left, could be better than stalock....it'll be interesting to see how he plays the puck at higher levels....

Stalock

by Trojan06
Stalock is a better goalie, he will make the team again and his puckhandling will help him. Most Pro goalies lack his stick skills. You can't teach that stuff. At the higher levels he won't handle the puck as much. He wont take the high risk plays because he will be able to rely on his D to break the puck out. You will still see the flashes but he overhandle the puck.

ER 16's

to answer eddie shores post, i understand that peterson had a hurt leg or something at the time of the tourney. As for my previous post, i still think there should be a couple more names on the 16's for ER (koehler, eha, malzahn), as well as one for 17's (warhol). i didnt see the 16's play in the tourney though, only the tryout, and im basing my opinions off of what other people told me.
