Just read in the paper and they said that he is gone. Then Ballard probebly won't be back either next year.

It's not on the Startrib site, where did you find this info, or are you playing April Fools games.

There was a blurb in the Strib this morning that said the coaching staff didn't expect Vanek back and that Ballard's return was 50/50.

Are you talking about Sid Hartman's column? Do you take Sid to be reliable on Hockey matters?

After browsing through the Sabres web site and message boards, nothing has happend on the Vanek front as of yet. By all accounts he has to sign by tommorrow (Apr. 2) to be eligible for the remainder of this year, or any of Rochester's play-off games. My guess would be that since Buffalo is out of the play-offs, his only move would be to join the Rochester team for the AHL play-offs and get experiance that way. Otherwise he'd best wait out the CBA the NHL will be working on, it'd be tough to sign then not get paid due to a lock-out or strike. Time is on Vanek's side, he can wait it out and if there is no NHL season he can stay with the Gophers and play hockey.

I would not be totally surprised if he went Pro...

However, anyone who believes what Sid writes about the subject of hockey...

I feel sorry for you.
Scheids
(A legend in his girlfriend's mind.)

I just want to make sure any shred of credibility I have on this board is not destroyed by reporting that Sid had the blurb in his column. Sid...Sid...well, I just can't find the words. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">

With that being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he left - and I think it may be the best thing for his game. If he's going to develop into a more complete player it won't happen at the U.

Here's the thing

Vanek very well might leave, but, it's possible Buffalo would prefer to wait to see what the new CBA is before signing Vanek, so they can get him cheaper than what it would cost now.

So much is up in the air because of that.

With any player, whether it be Vanek, Ballard or like Weber last year, until we hear that they are in class in the fall, you just never know.

Money talks! I think he should stay in school but it's tough to turn down money if it comes his way.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /happy.gif ALT=":D">
