Who should win and who does win is what this should read. We all have our opinions and opinions as to why someone does not win. But my opinion is Jack Hillen should and will Win.

After watching Alex Goligoski from GR play only twice i can definitely see why he is a finalist, and this is my personal(and very biased) opinion, but he is the main reason his team has a chance to go to state. Don't get me wrong, GR does have a lot of good players, and would still be a tough team without him. He absolutely took over the game against Brainerd in the section semi's. Brainerd had no answer for him. I haven't seen all the other finalists play so I can't say for sure who should win it.

Just a question, after looking at the finalists I noticed they are all on good teams, and was just wondering if a Mr. Hockey winner has ever been on a bad team, like say a below .500 team?

Hillen, Gorowsky, Kelly
they would be 2 - 4 picks after Goligoski.
I am biased, but the college coaches I have talked to think pretty similar to what I have here.

But you can make a good argument for Gifford an Page also.

And of course....

But I'll take Goligoski.

Pick a true high school player

I feel prep players that play JRs and high school should not be allowed to be Mr. Hockey. The kids who play nothing but high school deserve the honor more than someone who jumps all over the place trying to gain an advantage. Level the playing field, they all have to play JRs or they all just be a high school player. It seems unfair for someone to go from the farm club to high school to the farm club back to high school. What other sport allows a player to play somewhere else in the off season and then come back to school to play? Wow, it would be nice for a baseball player to go south and play winter ball and return in time for the high school baseball season, or even basketball, think about it.

Mr Hockey for the high school level should be a true high school student athlete.

that train keeps a rollin.....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

Edited by: <A HREF=http://pub33.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUser ... y>nwhky at: 3/1/04 11:14 pm

I have had the opportunity to play against 4 of the Mr hockey finalists. And, in my somewhat biased and humble opinion I believe Alex Goligoski of Grand Rapids should be the choice hands down. He can take over the game and he is one of the most unselfish players i have ever seen.

I like this one. Who gets to go play away then come back to high school then go away again. Basketball players have the option all summer long. Besides, no one on this list went away to play then come back to play then go away again. I know first hand that Mr. Hillen and Mr. Taylor from AHA were in school all year and still played for their respective junior teams. I believe that I saw a whole bunch of players in the elite league this year, and that was during the school year. Hmmm, I have said it before and I will continue till March 14th. All the finalists deserve the recognition for what each has achieved, but my opinion is Jack Hillen.......

WHAT???

Zamman- That whole last statement didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Will you rephrase it or something?

You are right zman, Hillen did go to school and play JRs while trying to get an edge over the other kids who stayed home. Tell me this, how many basketball players play for a team other than their high school team while school is in session? I feel it is not a fair advantage for a high school player to play JRs and high school in the same year and be considered for Mr Hockey.

The train keeps a rollin....<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... s/roll.gif ALT=":rollin">

He played like a workhorse tonight jumpstarting the pioneers with 2 goals in the second to give the momentum to hill going into the third. Both teams played a great game especially both biscuit stoppers.
