From what I understand, your coach and other coaches from your district need to select the top 91 kids from your district. Letters get sent out acknowledging you as a selected player. There is not a tryout. Tryouts for selects happen at 16 and 17. Good Luck.

District 4 is no longer an open tryout. The Coach-in-Chief for D4 should already have been in touch with all of the coaches to get their recommendations. The D4 team that is invited to tryouts will be scrimmaging the Shattuck Tier I team as a portion of the tryouts.

Nickel, before you post something, you should have your facts straight. District 4 Advanced 15's is an OPEN tryout. I just received a confirmation from Will Fish, the D4 coach, that it is an open tryout. Not sure where you are getting your info from

I guess the facts don't get much straighter than this...

And I quote - "Each MH district (12) will INVITE A MINIMUM of 40 candidates..."

<a href="

Nickel, won't Kohls and Montgomery have to try out for the District that is there hometown. Not sure how it works. My recollection though is that if you go to Shattuck and say your parents lived in Rochester, you would try out in District 8. Those Shattuck kids that have Faribault addresses try out in D$

bugsy,

It's my understanding that the kids play for the district that they're registered with for MN Hockey. For instance, a kid like Isaac Kohls, who hails from Forest Lake, is registered as a SSM player, thus he plays Adv 15 for D4. SSM has to register their kids with MN Hockey to play in sanctioned tournaments in Minnesota.

I was told that the D4 team would scrimmage the Tier I SSM team and the final team would be a combination of the two.

You are probably right, but last year there were Shattuck kids on rosters from several districts.

The 2000 D4 select 15's had only 3 shattuck kids. 1f, 1d, 1goalie. They swept the whole select tournament in a laugher. Nobody was within 3 goals of them.
