Beating the same old drum

I know this might seem like we are going right back to private vs. public, which I really do not want to do. But the funniest thing I heard at the tourney (other than 'lets go gophers' guy) was when I heard a person say..."I am so glad Duluth Marshall beat St. Cloud Cathedral, I can't stand private schools." I know this has little if no relevance to anything, but I just thought it was quite humorous.

I didn't have a lot of money. They let us in because we pay them a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Student loan payments are about 400 a month for the next 20 years. Damn thirsty Thursdays at Tiffs and Plums!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... oalie91 at: 3/11/05 11:40 am

My private high school has sucked money right out of me and my family, and every single penny has been worth it!<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/im ... /smile.gif ALT=":)"> Yeah a lot of people said to me that they thought that DM was a public school at state.

I wouldn't consider SC Cathedral the same type of "Private" high school as that of Breck, Blake, Benilde, AHA etc., where tuition is 20,000 and attracts hockey players. Whats the tuition at Catherdal, 5,000? My dad went to Catherdal and lots of my friends, and it wasn't for the hockey.

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... There are different levels of private schools no doubt about it. Some are for school and some are for sports. Not all private schools are good at sports!

Edited by: <A HREF=http://p074.ezboard.com/bmnhs.showUserP ... ltopper at: 3/11/05 1:17 pm

Privates on this board are = to smokers in the public realm. Seems to be politically correct to bash. Much is jealousy, because most privates are really good. As much is the bitterness that comes with associations that lose players to privates that didn't spend the time nor money to develop them.

Traditionally, MN high school hockey has been about the community. While understanding the pervasiveness of the argument, growth/change is inevitable. There are issues that need to be resolved.

99 Benilde
00 Breck
01 Benilde
02 Totino Grace
04 Breck

Using enrollment numbers to distinguish between A / AA doesn't work when the demographics of the enrollee is not "Joe average student".

Money / family hardship, frankly isn't the issue.

I'll say it agian ,think how competitive the tourny could be if all of those teams weren't in the same section.
My guess you would see more games like TG- Warroad , through out, not just in the final.

How many times have I posted this???
Not enough, I guess........
The fun of hockey is playing with the guys you grew up with - starting at mites and moving up - especially if you win, but even if you don't, it's the team effort that counts. That is what is so sickening about privates - they have no development program. There is no team bond going back to the days of youth hockey - no common memories of when you pasted your biggest rival, etc.

A lot of these kids do grow up in school together... they go to the same grade school, middle school, and high school. They may not play hockey together until 10th grade, but that doesn't mean they haven't grown up together. There's a lot more to growing up than just hockey!
