Sartell enters the 6A Championship looking to make some program history, as this is only the second ever Section Final appearance in program history. They are now looking to make more history and make their 1st ever Tourney. The Sabres have been a top Class A team all year long, and they enter this game on a 15 game win streak. They have not lost to a Class A team all year long. On paper, they’re the favorite in this one, but the last meeting with the Lightning was tight, and they have more experience playing in this type of game.

Sabres Leaders- Sr. #12 Brayden Klande (26-26-52 pts) and Jrs. #7 Devin Jacobs (37-41-78 pts) & #9 Preston Deragisch (21-49-70 pts) have led the way up front and are one of the top lines in the State. Jrs. #16 Isaac Mentzer (5-20-25 pts) & #18 Collin Otto (1-18-19 pts) are the leaders of the blueline but Mentzer has been out of the lineup recently but they hope to have him back for this one.

Sabres Goalie- Jr. #30 Brody Potthoff (21-3-0) 1.80 GAA .905 SV% has done a nice job this year stepping into the starting role in net. He has been especially good so far in the 6A teams going (4-0-0) on the year only allowing 4 goals and he was good against the Lightning in the 1st meeting.

Sabres Program History- Sartell’s hockey program just celebrated its 30th anniversary this winter. They have been steadily building and growing a great hockey program over that time. One of the things that has eluded them is a lot of postseason success, as this is just their 2nd ever Section Final appearance, but this team, ever since it was announced they would be placed back in Class A, felt like the group to break through and get the Sabres on the hockey map. Now is the time for them to make that dream come true.

Sabres Special Teams- The Power Play is at 29.1% and Penalty Kill is at 88 %

Northern Lakes enters the 6A Final for the third straight year. They will be looking to repeat as Section 6A champions, and they are playing their best hockey of the year. They are on an incredible streak heading into this game, as the Lightning have not given up a goal in the last 214 minutes they have played. Since Sartell scored the game winning goal at 6:41 of the 3rd period of a game on February 10th, they have shut out the last 4 opponents and will need that kind of team defense to pull the upset here and repeat in Section 6A.

Lightning Leaders- Sr. #14 Jacob Peterson (12-13-25 pts) and Jrs. #16 Josiah Reier (19-24-43 pts), #29 Parker Fulton (21-19-40 pts.) & #2 Waylon Katterhagen (16-8-24 pts) all have been productive this year. On blueline Jrs. #4 Kyler Rikala (2-16-18 pts), #12 Bodie Nybakken (2-9-11 pts) & #5 Derek Berg (1-10-1 pts) have all been good steady defenders and also been added to the offense.

Lightning Goalie- Jr. #1 Sam Suja (13-10-1) 2.48 GAA .915 SV% the 2nd year starter has been the key piece to this team all year long. He has been outstanding in net especially in the playoffs so far as he has 2 consecutive shutouts and he was very good against the Sartell attack in the first meeting.

Lightning’s Mr. Shutout- Northern Lakes is coming into this game playing their best hockey of the year as they really picked up their game down the stretch and a large reason for that is net. Goaltender Sam Suja, who recently went over 1000 career saves, has been red hot of late as he has 3 straight shutouts now and has yet to allow a goal in the 6A playoffs. He was one of the key reasons for their run to state last year and he will be key vs the high powered Sartell Sabres offense that averages over five goals a game.

Lightning Special Teams- The Power Play is at 17.5% and Penalty Kill is at 82.4 %
