#1 seed Hibbing/Chisholm (22-2-2) comes into this game having taken care of Ely with ease in their Section 7A Quarterfinal game. Now they focus their attention shifts to the Rails, and if Hibbing intends to get the season sweep, they will need to get big games from their top line of Srs. Tate Swanson & Isaiah Hildenbrand and Soph. Cole Swanson up front and Sr. Ethan Sundvall, Jr. Jackson Strukel & Soph. Whitaker Rewertz on the blueline, who, as has been noted over and over, are the engine of Class A’s #1 team. The Bluejackets know they can not get caught looking ahead, as Proctor showed in the regular season, when they upset the Hawks, they can take down anyone, and they will make sure not to be an easy game for 7A’s top seed.
#4 seed Proctor (13-12-1) comes into this game having advanced to the Semifinal round for the 3rd year in a row when they took down an International Falls team that won 22 games in the 7A Quarterfinal round. Now they face the top seed Hibbing/Chisholm, and while everyone knows that the key to Proctor’s success will be getting scoring from Sr. Breckin Ross and the core of youngsters Soph. Rafe Giswold and 9th grader Jax Hardy & Drew Yost, who will need to have big games as they have had all season. The key for them to have a chance at the big upset here will be net as goalie Soph. Ashton Lee, in only his 6th start of the year, picked up his 4th shutout and this should be no surprise as he is normally at his best in playoff games as he has been the backbone of the Rails Youth Hockey State Tourney Team the last few years and he loves the biggest games. If he is hot like he was vs the Broncos, we could have a sneaky good Class A game in the 1st matchup of the day on 7A Semifinal Saturday.
